Is the Windows firewall acting up?
Perhaps Putty isn't the latest version?

Having both insecure and insecure_locks seems a bit strange to me.
I'd remove "secure" in favor of "insecure_locks", and restart NFS or the whole NAS again.

Open a SSH connection to your SynoNAS, and find out what the NFS settings are in the /etc/exports file (or wherever Synology placed the exports file), and paste them here.
As everything works fine with the smartphone
What is "everything"?

We are not a VPN company, and also the Kodi application or LibreELEC 'OS' does not require a VPN to run properly.
So whatever you have yourself entangled in, it'll be up to you to solve it.
There is one big thread on VPN usage on this forum, and that's about all the help you will get.

I have Pi-Hole too in my network, and that isn't causing a problem. Even after the latest update just now.
But things seems to work for you now.

The J1900 was a board that had/still has(?) a kernel bug problem. I'm not sure if that is still a thing.
Can you rename the .kodi folder to something else, and reboot LibreELEC for a clean setup?
And perhaps also try a testbuild?

Sorry, our crystal ball couldn't tell what type of hardware device you are using.

That Generic download link works fine for me. Is your provider or are you having DNS problems?
-
surprisingly the plugin uses root ssh keys to identify an user with another name
Perhaps not so surprising as LibreELEC itself only has one user account: root.

(or have I misunderstood your question?)
I think so. Mirrors are there to unload the burden of the download traffic a website or application generates, and forwards the requests to one of the connect servers. In this case, in an example, my browser is now connecting to:
http : // ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/xbmc/addons/leia/plugin.video.thinktv/icon.pngand apparently the Aachen mirror cannot find the icon.png file...

Loaded with banned addons and porn.
Porn isn't the problem, banned add-ons are a problem.

With only 1 antenna on the USB stick, I doubt that you will get proper Wifi 5 speeds.
No matter what the manufacturers advertise.

Could you explain more about "dmesg | paste"?
It's a command you can type in a SSH / terminal session that is connected to your Kodi device.
And don't add "Need Help!" to your forum thread titles. We try to help everyone here, so shouting like a 6 yr old will not help or speed things up.

The repair guy set her up with a new modem and (I believe) her old SSID but a new password - for some reason 'he couldn't set it up like it was'.
That's basically a load of horse manure, unless the router requires a password of at least XX characters and the old password was too short.

Which mirror site are you getting when opening one or more of those URLs?

Well, one or two LE versions failed to update the RPI firmwares (which should be fixed by now), hence my Raspberry Pi OS suggestion.
