Windows 10 updates twice a year and it tends to re-write the MBR. I didn't want to have to deal with recovering GRUB each time. I'm not really that versed with Linux.

I'm using separate SSDs for each OS at the moment (perhaps overkill, I know, but some of the smaller SSDs are quite cheap). Running Ubuntu / Windows / LibreELEC for now on the office PC. I didn't know about Windows rewriting the bootloader with each big update. I'm using Ubuntu as my daily driver along with its GRUB loader, so I guess I dodged a bullet there.

A bit of tech info for starters would be nice. Type of hardware, LibreELEC version, anything else relevant.

    And perhaps a log file?

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link

    @bitbeam

OpenELEC is some 5 years ago by now (I think). Time flies...

"Does not start" is a pretty generic as well as a useless description. How about a debug log for starters?

So from what i have read there is no dual monitor support for LibreELEC?

No. There is no dual monitor support for Kodi, other than "Clone" support where all displays are using the same resolution and refresh rate with the same video screen content. This goes for Windows as well as any Linux flavor.

On generic PC's, you can have multiple monitors display Kodi, but again, in clone mode only. The RPi-4B does have a dual monitor output (RPi OS supports it), but because of the current rendering solution used by Kodi (GBM vs x11) on the RPi, there is no dual monitor option possible.

can you make it any harder? should i get a phd in computer programming to figure this out?

Sure, that's doable. I'm sure the PhD will also benefit you in one way or another. LibreELEC never set out to be a full OS replacement. Kodi runs on so much different hardware, it cannot account for every little detail. So, some personal handywork from its user may be required to fit personal wishes. It represents the hands-on approach for the user, rather than a holding-hands tactic by Kodi.

You could perhaps try to remap a key on your remote to ultimately have the system run scripts that change whatever screen setting you need.

I was uisng Zorin OS before this with Kodi and takes two seconds to adjust the screen and Zorin OS supports 1920x1080. What a waste of my time to install LibreELEC. OpenELEC worked so much better.

Zorin is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution. The Kodi basics also apply with that OS. If you can change the output on a 2nd monitor or TV via xrandr or other tools that work for you, knock yourself out. But OpenELEC was no different from LibreELEC in that regard. Kodi (or XBMC) never supported multi-monitor setups with individual screen content or refresh rates.

LibreELEC in my opinion leaves a lot to be desired.

We can't please everyone. On the other hand, we have already pleased many thousands of other people.

Please restart LibreELEC whenever you enable debugging in Kodi. Or better yet, simply set the loglevel to '1' via the advancedsettings.xml file. That enables debugging without any OSD debug info.

But now the detailed section only starts somewhere in the middle of your log file. Just a thought.

Why is released version specifically released for RPi 4 is broken out of the box ?

Because that's what we do, release broken applications... :/

Very few people use the analog output on a RPi4, so any errors in that section will not reach us quickly. You might just be the first one to report it.

What is the main difference between LibreElec vs. installing Kodi directly on Raspbian ?

Raspbian is a full-blown OS, where LibreELEC is a barebone version of Linux with only the necessary bells and whistles.

I have a build installed would that effect the settings?

Possibly. They are known to cause havoc in Kodi's core functionality.

A "build" in our terms is usually a scripted application that puts one or more 3rd party add-ons together. Add-ons that tend to facilitate video piracy, which as per LibreELEC's and Kodi's forum rules are not welcome here. Perhaps you can show us that my gut feeling is wrong, and that your build and add-ons are legit. Otherwise you are encouraged to find your support elsewhere.

If you mind getting rid of those build + add-ons, why not do a hard reset (see the LibreELEC Settings Addon for that), and start with a new clean LibreELEC setup?

Also, I have know clue what your "DVA/SDA" is.

I'm not a developer myself or a PVR guru, for now I just try to do some 1st line helpdesk stuff.

So what does "stuck" mean? Does Kodi freeze, or is it just a matter of being unable to uninstall stuff?

It's always helpful to enable Kodi's debugging (and restart Kodi) to get a detailed log file.

Also your NFS connections seem to be somewhat troublesome.

EDIT: oops.. Seems like your other log is debug-enabled.

    What am I doing wrong?

A better thread title for starters, I've already done that for you.

Or you could have bumped your previous forum thread.

Why the USB stick doesn't boot up on the Chromebox, I don't know. I have no Chromebox experience.

Try using a different disk image writer such as Win32 Disk Image Writer or BalenaEtcher or Rufus.

Adjusting the partition sizes can be done with a tool like GParted (also available in a bootable iso), but have some partitioning knowledge will come in handy.
