I was expecting beta6 coming, is it released by mistake

There is no pre-determined time path of when the next set of test builds will be released. Whenever we feel comfortable with the current status of LibreELEC, we'll go into the next phase.

Right now, time is also becoming a bit of a factor as Kodi 19 has been out for some time now, including a .1 revision. Normally we aren't that far behind, but with this round things have been taking more time, especially with the new RPi4 hardware. We prefer to keep the same LE version for all supported hardware, rather than going for a different off-beat version for each device.

How many 9.97 versions there will be is unsure, but I doubt it'll make it to v6 as well like with 9.95. I hope LE 10 final will not be that far away.

CEC is a bit of a loose canon. Every TV manufactures uses its own implementation of CEC, and on top of that, uses its own name for it.

You could try entering the port number in the Input Devices settings in Kodi to make the HDMI port selection of your TV more permanent.

Are there any other devices connected to your TV that have CEC capabilities?

    it handles 1080 very smooth.

1080p is typically h264 format. That format is hw-accel supported by just about any GPU from 2005 and onwards. The RPi3B+ can do that too.

Handling the hevc format and/or 10bit video is another matter.

ATI didn't also get into fanless discrete cards that much. The only recent fanless card would be the XFX Radeon RX 460 4GB Passive.

I currently have a Nvidia gt 1030 fanless. I think Linux support for Nvidia is not the best because playing 4k content my CPU hits 85°c where as with windows it just plays smooth.

I have PC mini-tower with a GT1030. Your CPU is probably overheating because the GT1030 will not do hardware-acceleration on 10bit videos and therefore the CPU has too step in, simply because the Nvidia video driver is not capable of that under Linux. Certain players in Ubuntu can do 10bit Nvidia stuff, like MPV using NVDEC/NVENC, but that's another story.

I have a simple fanless Asrock J5005 board with an Intel HD605 and a pico psu, which is a dead silent setup, and it practically plays everything I throw at it. There are successors by now for that onboard CPU, although the J4205 should also be a good enough option upto 4K30.

A 4th gen i5 ...which is almost 9 years old, may not handle 1080p hevc very well, let alone 4K 10bit hevc.

doesn't make it clear if the issue was the use or the discussion of such

That doesn't matter. We don't want any of the banned add-on crap here or at the Kodi forum. Period.

Most of us folks new to a product/forum aren't aware of all the nuances right off the bat.

Yeah, as if nowadays lots of people are seeing and using the Internet for the first time... Most of the folks are too lazy to inform themselves of forum rules whenever they register at a forum, even when they are made aware of forum rules. That is my experience as a Kodi forum moderator. It's like installing a new Windows program: "Next, Next, Next, Finished!". Most folks assume everything is allowed and all is honky-dory.

"Thanks to" the so-called piracy box sellers, youtube promoters and several uninformed journalists`, Kodi (and LibreELEC) was almost finished a few years ago. The superrepo repositories that are/were(?) present on your system do not install themselves. So forgive us/me for getting cranky whenever people are taking things like video piracy lightly. FYI, anything from 'superrepo' repositories, which have been around for a long time already, is considered contagious and malignant.

And yes, those 3rd party add-ons can cause havoc on your system because in LibreELEC, the only user is "root" (which is basically God-mode), and that can totally wreck your system without you even knowing it. Thus making it difficult to troubleshoot such setups. At some point, one developer created an unofficial add-on that removed other add-ons from a Kodi setup. Or took over your Kodi device for cryptocurrency actions. All fun stuff, right?

I'll end my rant here. I think you'll get the meaning.

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link

I'll probably uninstall it if it's problematic as I only did so for a player that streams free web content anyway.

Probably..? People seem to define what is "free" very loosely, whenever banned add-ons are installed. To be clear: you can install whatever you want on your Kodi setup, but don't expect support here whenever a repo/add-on, wizard or kodi-fork with questionable content comes into play. Not to mention that such 3rd party crap is capable of seriously hindering Kodi core functionality.

I feel like I touched nerve here.

For years now, Kodi has tried to shake off the accusations of being an illegal piece of software. The good side of our reputation gets damaged every time people are advocating and promoting the use of the such add-ons via Youtube tutorials and web pages.

Playing the innocent party, when you have one of the biggest and most prolific repository of banned add-ons installed, is not really convincing.

My AC9560 CVSi module (wifi+bt) is crap as well when using 5Ghz, 2.4Ghz is okay as is BT. I have a Asrock J5005, gigabit is my main network connection.

However, the same thing is happening when I use Ubuntu 20.04 on the same machine. So it's likely a Linux driver problem of some sort.
