FYI, v8.2.2 is the newest version, although that will make little difference with the problem at hand.

The video plays fine here too on Ubuntu + Nvidia graphics on both 21:9 and 16:9 screens.

Eminent does have its own helpdesk, and Eminent also releases their own builds of LibreELEC. Hence they might be behind in version numbers.

So I suggest you contact them first, since you also paid them for the Eminent box.

I'd say that is 99.9% the case.

There is an option in LibreELEC to support SMBv1, the better question is: do you really want to run a server with a dangerously low security level? Ask any medical facility in Great Britain what the WannaCry virus did for them.

So fix your Windows server to use SMBv2+, use user accounts with full credentials including a password, and work on a safer local network.

You'd have to be a bit more specific than "still not perfect" and "better".

Check which video driver is active. If the newer driver is now active, the older one may suit better.

But normally there are no big differences between the two.

Could be a dodgy internet provider, a problematic DNS server, a failing Wifi connection... It's hard to tell from here.

AMD has an even longer bad track record when it comes to Linux support for GPU drivers with a HTPC in mind. Almost 8-9 years by now, the Linux side of things has not been the focus of AMD developers. It's always been Windows.

Some open-source movement is there for the newer AMD GPU cards, but the focus seems to be on games on not htpc-specific functionality... The successor for Nvidia's VDPAU support is not there yet. It's not easy to choose at the moment.

For Intel-based pc, the best (least bad) solution is the newest Intel GPU. HDR support is in the pipe line AFAIK, so certain NUCs with the latest CPUs should be okay. M-ATX and M-ITX motherboards are harder to pick since only very few have HDMI 2.0(b) on board, most are limited to HDMI 1.4 (4K30fps).

Otherwise, get a 'simple' S905(x)/S912 based box. Those should have all the goodies on board, graphics-wise.

Try pasting things to Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! or Ubuntu Pastebin.

There is still no crystal ball here, so we require you to provide the debug-enabled full Kodi.log file for some information on your box' internals.

"Some streaming apps" sounds a little ominous as in the usual illegal apps for getting movies/series/sports for free. Those we also do no support.

LibreELEC only has a Samba server built-in, and no other file servers.

Perhaps something is possible via Docker.

Try a different TV/monitor.

Try a different HDMI port on the TV.

If the problem persists, it's the NUC. I'm just playing Sherlock Holmes here.
