Deinterlace is done. 3D is possible and not on the Foundations to-do list, but one of their developers is likes 3D so it will probably happen from personal interest at some point. Software optimisation for HEVC is not likely to be redone because it's a large effort and requires a level of hackery in ffmpeg that will never be accepted upstream, which is the design requirement for all code now. Tests show the non-optimised HEVC support in LE11 images is sufficient for SD media, but not 720p/1080p. So if you really need HD media, either stick with LE9.2 or bump up to an RPi4 with native HEVC hardware decode.

I just read it wrong RPI 2 is using legacy and RPI 3 and 3+ isn't

Kodi 18.8 (Linux Kernel 4.19.x)
LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-9.2.4.img.gz

Appears to be legacy and not for rpi 3+.

So I'm not sure which image to download.

Up till now I always use a card and thumb drive just because the older cards corrupted more easily than thumb drives.

I was hoping to do the same with the new pi 4b and run Kodi from a fast usb3.

But it I haven't gotten it to work yet.

I'm wondering if someone can help me with how to update the firmware on my new Raspberry pi 4b.

The new firmware is supposed to help with heat issue but I can't seem to figure out how to install it.

I see in the description USB mass-storage booting is suported. Does that mean I can partition a thumb drive and put the image on the first partition. Thanks

Sorry I guess my last post came across differently than I intended.
I'm not having any problems (the current LE version is running great).
I get bored on weekends (still winter up here in Maine)
So I have been following milhouse's OE 8 builds on my spare rpi.
Once the dust settles this will be a fun place to hang out.
