im pretty sure that if you put .img.gz in update folder and restart you are not getting anywhere
I did it with success
You may have a look how_to:update_libreelec [LibreELEC]

no, it doesn't make any difference, it makes ALL the difference as only .tar can be used for updating.
Shure ?
I used .img.gz many times
Small little update, cause I got actual 4k movie content running smoothly with NFS over UDP (tcp was already too slow). Unfortunately this performance doesn't translate to the Jelly-Fish test files.
I told it several times -> Use an USB-Gb adapter solve this
I would like to know if there is a version of Kodi Leia that I could install
Yes it is.
Easy to find
and some movie addons I think I can not name it here
You don´t need a S912
Because I thought that the s912 boxes were not faster.
Gibbs rule #51: Sometimes You are wrong
I own a 912 box since a few weeks, it´s faster and I saved money because S912 box has Gb network, so I don´t have to buy an USB network adapter.
Your own build of skin etc. -> backup & restore from other box
IAre there any special chips/manufactures I should avoid or prioritize?
asix ax88178 chipset - USB 2.0
asix ax88179 chipset - USB 3.0
realtek rtl8153 chipset - USB 3.0
If it's that easy why would someone generate a remote.comf from scratch?
You can generate Your own and customized remote.conf
only problem is that wlan isn't working.
Some cheap wlan chips are not supported.
SSH to box and type:
udevadm info /sys/bus/sdio/devices/sdio*
and post the result
In my case:
udevadm info /sys/bus/sdio/devices/sdio*
P: /devices/http://d0070000.sdio/mmc_host/sdio/sdio:0001/sdio:0001:1

ar6k_wlan = Qualcomm Atheros -> this driver is included in LE build
The source file was a H.265 encoded 4k movie ripped from blue ray and stored via SMB on a NAS. The playback stuttered and froze most of the time, the movie was basically not watchable.
I know
Its important to use NFS -> better performance
Internal 100 Mbit network chip(s905x) is not fast enough.
Have a look at my signature -> all boxes playing ripped 4k smooth
BTW: Can you stream 4k content once you've installed LibreELEC?
Source ?
From NAS it could be work - it depends
Testfiles -> Jellyfish Bitrate Test Files
In my case I´m using Gb USB adaptor with S905X boxes
What device tree would that be? According to the [HOWTO + FAQ] Install community builds on S905/S905X/S912 device, s905x processors do not have device-specific device trees but generic ones, that correspond to the devices ram size.
You hav to use the device tree which depends to th box - 1GB, 2Gb or 3Gb - Find out the ram size.
Maybe the box is using fake ram
1. You need a working device tree depending to the box
2. You have to try all USB ports
3. Start Android, install the App "Reboot to Libreelec" from Google, connect the prepared USB stick, execute the App "Reboot to Libreelec"
Any thoughts on that ?
Network speed may be to slow.
Try to use a USB Gb adaptor.
Hint:
WiFi is to slow either
Hi . any answers on this ?
Such Questions are often asked ....
Did You read [HOWTO + FAQ] Install community builds on S905/S905X/S912 device
The point -> Installing to internal memory (not recommended, risky)
I had only a few files with aac 5.1 audio.
Converted them to DTS using Xmedia Recode.
Video files 10Bit 1080p HDR HEVC are working fine, but I have only a few videos.
Most of my HDR HEVC videos are 4k
Is working fine with Kszaq's 8.2 build
But not with Kodi Leia
Leia is only development build.
I went back to 8.2
I writed the SD card a second time with exact the same files as you.
But You own another box ....
You need a dtb depending to Your hardware
