    I've written an add-on that issues a xbmc.builtin(CECStandby), and I can see that the command runs with the log showing a message that says "putting CEC device on standby..." but nothing happens to my Samsung TV.

    I can use the remote no problem and I can pipe stuff into the cec-client exec on the command line which causes the TV to go off/on (and then the TV seems to lose the CEC connection so this isn't ideal).

    Is this expected to work in this way? Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? My google-fu is not finding anything. Or am I posting up a log next? Thanks for any help

    No, the add-on is using openvpn to create you a VPN tunnel which by design is presenting a different IP address. It's really not changing your MAC address. You're free to find the line of code on Github that's doing that if you still believe that's the case.

    4.4.0 pushed to the repo

    It improves username and password validation

    And it removes PureVPN as they have their own add-on now which hopefully addresses the ongoing issues with dropped connections and security holes. It also means that these issues with Pure can be taken up with their support directly. You can get that here kodi-vpn

    I found this when I was setting up my RPi2 with HDMI -> TV -> passthrough via optical to amp. I don't have HifiBerry tho. I think everything worked for me on OE7, but not when I got to LE8. I ended up with this fix which might help you. I use SSH to get to the command line and then follow these instructions. If you're not using SSH, you'll need to work out how to access /flash in write mode.

    mount -o remount,rw /flash

    Edit /flash/config.txt with the following ( nano /flash/config.txt will do this for you)

    # Fix DTS passthrough

    hdmi_audio_config=0x200

    hdmi_clock_change_limit=40

    mount -o remount,ro /flash

    In my notes, I seem to be questioning whether the final line should be =20 instead of =40, but I can't remember why I was dithering about this. I've been using 40 since whenever with no issues so maybe 40 is fine. If not, you can google around this see if it helps you make progress

    The only way to eliminate Kodi and the add-on is to run openvpn with one of the ovpn files from the command line. That's documented in the troubleshooting page in the first post. You might want to increase the debug by adding verb=4 to the ovpn file (or do this via the VPN Mgr settings/debug options and regenerate the files).

    Disable the add-on before you run the test though as Kodi will still be running on the box in the background and it could conflict.

    I really doubt that either Kodi or the add-on is causing your problem - I'd guess that looking at the log would just show the connection going away and VPN Mgr trying to reconnect, assuming you've left that option on. I suspect kostaman is giving you the advice you need.

    I've updated list of IPVanish servers as there were some changes, but the reason the list stops at St. Louis is because alphabetically that's the location of the last US server that IP Vanish provides. Just because you're near to a large metropolitan area it doesn't imply that there will be a server located there. You can see the list of servers on their website.

    Iplayer is throwing an error. This might be because the stream is being rejected because of your vpn or it might be a problem with the plugin.

    It could be that the expressvpn ovpn files are out of date, but it is connecting ok. I'd download a UK ovpn file from their website and connect using the command line as documented on the wiki. If that fails then go moan at their support as they claim it works. If it works then PM me and we'll get the connection file updated.

    Good choice of TV too 🙂
