You can remap gamepads for each core, it is easy, when in a game enter retroarch and you should see RA's quick menu (if you are in RA main menu go to history, select you current rom and select quick menu). In this menu you can remap buttons for this core or even for an specific game. Also you can adjust other "per core" settings from here.

@Dalton63841 if you lost all your cores make sure you unchecked "Use RetroPlayer installed cores only (Clean cores directory)" in addon settings, this will delete all your cores in every launch in order to use only the ones downloaded using RetroPlayer (upcoming LE9).

Also, if you lost your cores and your DS4 is not working, maybe the problem is that you lost your retroarch.cfg file where both autoconfig & cores folders path is defined.

Make sure after RA installation that you first run it directly before using other frontends, because in RA firts launch some config files and folders are copied to the correct location.

You can take a look to /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/game.retroarch and you should see something like this:

    Gamestarter/repository.gamestarter/game.retroarch/retroarch at master · bite-your-idols/Gamestarter · GitHub

in retroarch you can assign a hotkey (e.g. SELECT) and then assing hotkeys bindings (e.g. START to QUIT) so you can exit retroarch just pressing a button combo (e.g. SELECT+START). If you have launched a rom from AEL you will return to AEL launcher list, if you launched a rom from within retroarch you will return to kodi and if you have launched a rom with ES you will return to ES.

I recommend you to take a read to retroarch getting started documentation, tutorials and wiki.

Is there anyway to get this is pause kodi.bin instead of killing it? Ive just discovered that it turns off services including openvpn manager. Ive just loader retroarch and discovered that my vpn got switched off. $The other versions of retroarch on here for x64 used to pause the kodi.bin and im sure openvpn manager stiill ran.

This addon works for both generic and pi, so pausing kodi instead of killing it will affect to Pis performance, that's the reason why this addon kills it. Some processes, like hyperion or vnc, are still running in background but maybe, as you say, other don't.

I will try to delete the autoconfig folder. As for the mouse, only the cursor works. I can't click any menu option and there are no mouseover events or anything. It almost seems as if there is a transparent 'window/overlay', which has the focus over the retroarch program.

Could the error in line 51 have anything to do with it (the other errors only seem audio related)?

    Code
[ERROR] Failed to create rendering backend: freetype.
Failed to open ^M: No such file or directory

    No clue.

Did you try connecting just one item at a time? When in kodi both keyboard and gamepad work ok?

    See below.

I can not see anything strange, keyboard, mouse and gamepad are recognized:

    Quote
    1. [INFO] [udev] Adding device /dev/input/event2 as type ID_INPUT_KEYBOARD.
    2. [INFO] [udev] Adding device /dev/input/event4 as type ID_INPUT_MOUSE.
    3. [INFO] [udev] Adding device /dev/input/mouse1 as type ID_INPUT_MOUSE.

    5. [INFO] [udev] Adding device /dev/input/mouse0 as type ID_INPUT_MOUSE.

You can try deleting autoconfig folder in userdata addon folder. Also you can try using mouse to get into settings>input>player 1 bind> remap all buttons...

    Hi all,

I’ve installed RetroArch via this repo, on an Intel NUC LibreElec installation. However, I’m running into a very curious problem in the XMB menu; when I start RetroArch, it seems to work, but no input devices seem to work. Nothing happens when I press keyboard buttons, nor when I press buttons on various controllers I tried. The controllers are correctly recognized in a yellow overlay text. The only thing that’s working is the mouse cursor, which is moving, but the mouse buttons are not working.

    Any idea what’s wrong?

    Logs?

One more question..Is there a way that I can output sound both on HDMI and headphone jack on RPi..At this moment I m using the audio_device = "hw:0,0" for hdmi and audio_device = "hw:0,1" to output from jack...but have to edit this each time to change audio....is there a way to output both at the same time like what Kodi does?

did you try by leaving empty that parameter? I never use pi's minijack so I rally don't know... by the way, you should be able to change between audio devices using retroarch settings menu.

Hi..need some help...I m trying AEL and managed to launch few games but not sure how to scrape artwork from gamesdb...can do it 1 game at a time from menu but is there a way to scrape all games in a launcher?thanks

I recommend you to take a look to AEL official support thread:

Advanced Emulator Launcher - Multi-emulator frontend for Kodi

Wintermute0110 explains that subject better than me ;)

Hey, sry i wasn't home for a while.

I am using the x360 wireless controllers. working without any issues so far. :)

Finally I get my dualshocks working with the help of Escalade, but still in LE8 since hyperion works really bad in LE9...

No idea about the sound thing.

    ...

Advanced Emulator Launcher updated to v0.9.7-beta1 in repo, also I updated instructions about it in github.

More info about the release: Advanced Emulator Launcher - Multi-emulator frontend for Kodi

Not sure if I should ask her or make a new post about installing and using gamestarter.

I downloaded dragged and dropped Game starter3 to my \\LIBREELEC and installed it now not sure how to get going. I am thinking since I have no roms or bioses just drag and dropping the some of the "Gamestarter/packages/" into the folders on my libreelc raspi box . the thing is I am not sure exactly where is it the \\LIBREELEC\Emulators area.

originally I did the install of gamestarter3 installed it could not get it working looked for tuts on it found one on utube "gamestarter run emulators in kodi Raspi Openelec or Libreelec" but I failed to understand how to load the cores, roms and such.

if anyone can point me in the right direction on where to get the Roms and instructions on how to properly install and get up and running

Follow instructions in github, what in summary is: download repo file and install the zip in kodi, then go to addons and install what you want from repo.

Once you have retroarch addon installed you need to copy your roms to /storage/emulators/roms and bios to /storage/emulators/bios. These folders are automatically created when launching retroarch for the firts time, or you can create them.

I'm using my own fork which is based on 8.2 but have updated most of the core components like kernel, mesa, glibc, drivers etc.

    I see.

Do you know how should I edit my cfg for DS3 in order to make it works as you did with DS4? unfortunately I can not pair my DS4 using bluetooth and when I use USB retroarch still not wotking with you cfg file...

EDIT: Peace of cake. Connected a keyboard and the DS, then I use keyboard to go in retroarch to input>player 1 binds> bind all and then go pressing DS buttons. Both of them work ok in retroarch but.... just via USB... something is going wrong with bluetooth pairing... I will continue testing another day.

You are right, it is not an issue, but they ignored that it is related with kernel update, so I just have tell them because garbear is trying to make a Player Manager in order to assing controllers for different player number, so this info can help him.

But one thing, for me both DS3 and DS4 are working ok in LE8.1.2, using them in kodi, emulationstation and retroarch and everything is fine. The problem appeared in LE9 testbuild from 0714 with update to kernel 4.12. And, as they say in reddit link, the problem is because both DS3 and DS4 are recognized as 2 controllers, one for motion sensors (controller0) and another for standard joystick (controller1). In kodi (after configuring them from scratch) and ES you can use them but in retroarch (and retroplayer) they don't work.

So, if I use your posted "Sony-PlayStation4-DualShock4-Controller-Bluez-4.10.cfg" should it work?
