Has to be due to different hardware, different OS'es, and/or different processing. Assume you're already tried all the possible SDR settings on Zidoo. For whatever reason, there are PQ differences, close, but noticeable with Pi5/AMD > Zidoo > Amlogic devices.

1. I am playing Money from Home using the menu and getting the no 3D TV error.
I'm getting this on Cube2 and Rocktek G2, both w/AVDVPlus build, and w/Vero V, all h/w-based MVC decoding. Could it be an authoring issue? Choosing the 2D version plays the 3D version.
The Pi5 appears to output RGB(16-235). On the Zidoo, selecting "Priority RGB444 8BIT for non-4K content" and "HDMI Range 16-235" (important: do not let it on auto!) produces a similar result. All the other options were worse in some way. With these settings, the 3D on my Zidoo is on par with the Pi5, or at least very close. What results do you get when you compare these settings?
Re-tested w/several titles, and PQ is very close, but still find RPi5 and AMD slightly better (but, noticeable). One issue I am seeing on AMD is frame skips (or possibly micro-stutters); will post debug log in the other thread.

I have 3 Zidoo's as well: 2x Z9X Pro's and an X9S. According to Gemini, these are the most recommended settings for 3D:
- Non-4K (1080p / 3D MVC): Priority YUV444 10BIT (or 10BIT RGB)
- HDMI Color Range: 16-235 (Limited)
You've already tried YUV444 10BIT. Wonder if 10BIT RGB would be better. I'd be surprised if so as we're talking 8-bit content. If the PQ you got with 8BIT RGB is the best we're going to get, then it's likely due to Realtek's MVC hardware decoder and picture processing.

I'd have assumed FP (so over/under) would be the preference if supported by display and not disabled in advancedsettings. If not FP, then it should use your preference from settings. A log file would be useful.
So, captured a video showing 3D MVC playing in SBS mode w/20260909195900-6f94f34, then downgraded to 20260904144932-66d24f6, and playback was expected over/under. Updated back to 20260909195900-6f94f34, and enabled debug logging to share, but now playback is also over/under. So, I guess no problem to report :).

popcornmix, with latest build 20260909195900-6f94f34, MVC MKV's and 3D ISO's have reverted to playing in side-by-side mode. Vs 'Over/under' you had changed default to few builds back.

You did it 🎉👏! Tested the new build w/several 3D MVC MKV's and now PQ w/"Use limited color range (16-235)" at its default (off) = RPi5's! Except...

And, I can feel the power, snappiness difference... in fact, it's the fastest Kodi box I have now. We wouldn't have AMD 3D w/o popcornmix's RPi5/4 3D, but I may be using AMD more. Definitely keeping and using RPi5 as well, and maybe move it to a secondary media room w/a 3D UST projector. Of course, for those who don't already have an AMD-based PC, given hardware prices these days (bought mine for ~$350 in 2023, and now it's ~$590 😱), RPi5 would be more wallet-friendly and more than good enough.
BTW, my BT issue is solved... needed to disable BT under LE settings > services, then enable it back.
I just changed the display colour settings on the Zidoo from 'Priority YUV444 10BIT' to 'Priority RGB444 8BIT' for non-4K, and I think this made all the difference - thanks a lot

Yes, this did make a difference w/my Zidoo as well, but RPi5 and AMD still have sharper 3D, and more pop than Zidoo. I'd say RPi5 and AMD would be A++, Zidoo using Priority RGB444 8BIT for non-4K an A, and Amlogic-based h/w-decoding boxes a B+.

I saw that ht2tweak had luck with Money from Home but when I try to play it from the menu I just get this box telling me I need a 3D TV, while the menu is playing in 3D
Playing directly from the playlist works fine.Same here with 'Money from Home', but if you choose the 2D version, the 3D one plays.
Need a few more details. What is the frame rate of a video with judder? What is the frame rate the kodi is outputting at?
If these are both 24, then this is a projector issue we can't help with. If kodi is driving 60Hz (and projector reports support of 24), then we can look into that.
All 23.976 3D MVC MKV's. Kodi is outputting correctly as 23.98. Titan Noir Max, like most DLP projectors are native 60Hz, and they recently implemented 24p for 2D, but not 3D. Us owners are waiting on XGIMI to fix this for 3D, but it isn't high priority for them. I was just wondering if "Allow double refresh rates" and/or "Allow 3:2 pulldown" might help w/motion judder. I'll try them out and report back.
Talking about RPi4 overclocking, worth doing w/RPi5?
-
Great find! Are you saying now Zidoo PQ w/Priority RGB444 8BIT is on par w/Pi5 and (I assume) AMD will be as well w/limited colour range (16-235) enabled?
Question on BT. Was unsure where to ask, but doing so here in case it may be related to this build. So, my Beelink SER5 Mini PC w/AMD Ryzen 7 5800H has built-in Bluetooth, but under LE, do I need to do something to see it?[SOLVED] Disabling BT under Services, then re-enabling fixed the issue.

Excellent insights, thanks. With full rez 3D content, Pi's appears sharper. vobs and another user on AVSForum concurred when he tested as well. But, AMD's is as good as Zidoo's, and that's saying a lot.
-
Don't hold me on the PQ comments; just initial impressions. I need to test thoroughly. Given neither Pi5 nor this AMD solution rely on h/w MVC decoder, in theory, given 1's and 0's, PQ should be identical I'd think.
BTW, also tried your build on an Intel N150 mini PC for the heck of it, and it didn't boot.
-
Would be good to know if that made the difference for him.
Thanks for the latest build. Question on this:
QuoteEnable "Allow double refresh rates" and "Allow 3:2 pulldown" as 3D modes are often only have 50/60Hz and not 25/30Hz.
My projector is currently doing 6:4 cadence for 3D vs 5:5. And its MEMC function does nothing in 3D mode. Would one of the new options you added potentially help with the motion judder present in 3D?
-
May want to read this about RPi4. Another option based on popcornmix's work is now also as good an option.
-
Hey cinemaONE, thank you for incorporating popcornmix's 3D work into the dev/test build you shared!
So, I am getting perfect 3D playback now! 3D MVC MKV's, 3D ISO's with and w/o menus, FSBS, HSBS and HTAB movies and samples I tested all played perfectly. No stuttering, PQ almost as good as RPi5's, and menus working well! Choosing to install LE to an internal NVMe SSD (vs. USB stick) made a world of difference in making my Beelink SER5 a snappy, buttery smooth LE/Kodi use. Feels a little faster than RPi5. On PQ, need to do more testing (as I may not be recalling well), but RPi's picture seems the sharpest to me, with Zidoo media players and AMD like mine next, then followed by AmLogic boxes w/MVC decoding.
BTW, I did not have to whitelist anything... 3D just worked.
I'm so thrilled we have yet another excellent full 3D playback hardware option! And that we don't have to fuss w/Windows to enjoy :).

If it makes sense to start a new thread, let's do so, or if one exists for 3D, please point me there.
Just tested on my Beelink SER5 mini PC. Good news: All 3D formats work! Cool! Just like RPi5 ... but, man, is this PC sluggish as heck running LE. Maybe because I installed to a USB stick? 3D played, but lots of stuttering and freezing, and LE/Kodi use is painful. Ran CPU benchmark:

Makes sense. If there's a separate build like one I assume cinemaONE tried, happy to test it. If not, I'll wait.
-
Thanks. I can just try LE off a USB stick and see if 3D works. Which build should I try? I assume popcornmix's work hasn't made it into official stable or nightly yet.

Would this work on a Beelink SER5 w/Ryzen 7 5800H & integrated Radeon graphics?
