Has anyone has issues with PCM through a receiver on the S905X?
I get load white-noise randomly when trying to play videos. It happens with all audio codecs as long as I am not using passthrough (I don't use passthrough because I need to be able to change the volume from my tablet).
I think the issue is the same one linked a year ago here:
[S905X] - Noise when playing files with AAC 5.1 audio
I am pretty confident it is an issue with the PCM output not conforming to what the receiver expects. The white noise occurs randomly when starting to play a video, but also occurs randomly if I switch the receiver on/off or switch inputs while a video is playing. This happens both with TOSLINK and HDMI audio.
As I said it never happens with passthrough, but that isn't helpful to me.
I am unsure if this is an issue with my specific S905X box or an issue that would show up with any S905X box and my receiver, or possibly something that could be fixed via the dtb. I have tried many different versions of LibreElec as well as building it from source. All versions from the past 6months or so that I've tried have had this issue.
The receiver I have is a couple years old Denon AVR-S500BT
Well PCM is sent as 7.1, So who knows what the AVR will do with it....

Yes.
But even when disabled i get some pitch "wavers", especially when watching 720p h264 50fps live tv (e.g. german channel "das erste") while browsing the kodi menu system on my nexbox a95x.
Under options/skin settings/general everything is disabled.
Is there anything more to tweak, speedup the kodi gui?
Is there any low end rescource saving skin avaliable?
Confluence works fine. You could also add this code to autostart.sh:
Codeecho 5 > /sys/class/mpgpu/cur_freq echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
But this can overheat your box and damage it. So check the temp if you do. I have mounted a small pc fan on mine, so I have no problem with overheating.

But... There is something odd going on if you copy a large file from windows to the box:)

I sweard not to update too soon, but instead keep old versions until late beta.
I upgrade anyway from 8.90.1 to 8.90.2 and the following things are broken now:
- reboot does not work anymore
- wlan has very slow connection or disconnects on two different wlan adapters (8.90.1 works perfectly)
- language german is not possible anymore
Did some test, And Reboot works fine, wlan 100mb no problemo, German Sprache OK:)

I have 1 main disturbing problem with my nexbox a95x (s905x) and all librelec releases i've tested.
Very often the pitch of the sound goes up and down.
It sounds like a broken turntable or tape deck.
No matter what file (oldskool avi with xvid, x264, x265 10bit) or dvbviewer live tv.
Its very heavy when i use the osd menu and video runs in background.
And when i enter something into a text field it completely goes crazy even with dropouts and cuts.
Will this ever be fixed?
Are you using sync playback to display?
-
yes i know...
But something strange happened, now i've removed the advancedsettings.xml setting to force amlcodec (like when just updated to 8.90.2) and i've no more shutters.
Maybe was an error, when just updated i've no HW decoder enabled.
I was thinking that <useamcodec>true</useamcodec> had enabled the HW decoder, but now, also without <useamcodec>true</useamcodec> i've the HW decoder on and i can play Jellyfish sample without frame loss or shutter with cpu at nearly 1% .... so a strange things...
But not at 4K
-
which box (S905x or S912 version chipset) plays jellyfish 140mbps 4K? Also mention the build name (Adam G or Kszaq)
I can recommend NexBox A95X or a MeCool KI Pro;)
-edit-
All the builds plays perfectly, but with the NexBox, you need a GBit usb Netadapter;)
-
Just a little tip, Don't Blame the software for the hardware problems:)
-
Why a new box?
I've 2 S912 boxes and an Intel n3400, with 8.90.2 also 1080p content shutters on S912 (not on intel box).
With 8.90.1.1 i've no shutters also on S912.
Resolved with the advancedsettings mod... if you know a better solution please let me know.
Atm i think to return to 8.90.1.1 on S912 boxes
I did have a better solution..... If you have a S912... Get a New Box

Get a new Box! Jellyfish 140mbps 4k plays like a dream;)

tvheadend HTSP Client Unavailable server
HERE NOT THE SAME!
Have you tried to update your addon's?
-
Good friends here I tried to upgrade from the version
8.2.2.3 to 8.90.1 plus tvheadend did not establish a connection
I went ahead tried a clean install with version 8.90.1
Same problem tvheadend connects and disconnects
The kszaq version works perfectly here 8.2.2.3
I would like to move on with the most updates I was barred with tvheadend.
Box MECOOL KI Pro S905D
How to solve this problem?
I'm using 8.90.2 with tvheadend, and all is OK!.;)

Hey guys
First of all, happy holodays to all, especially to all dev people that allows us to enjoy our media centers
I have the issue with oversaturation and I compared on the same TV, and same TV settings when I play a h265 movie on Kodi installed on stock android and latest version of Kodi/LibreELEC.
Specifications are:
Nexbox a95x with s905 processor and 1gb of Ram.
Lastest 8.2.2.3 LibreELEC.
Moreover, this issue is present in earlier builds also since I have tried to downgrade.
Is there a way to resolve this issue since there is no Saturation option on my Philips 4k TV?
Thanks.
Any difference by switching between 2160/1080 in Kodi system settings?
-
I managed to get my scripts to work. I added 2 buttons to the Movies sub menu, with 8-bit and 10-bit and now I can switch between the two modes almost on the fly.
Did some testing with my Spyder5, and I don't read any difference in white balance, colors and saturation when switching between 444 8bit, 10bit and 12bit. So I'll just leave it on 12bit

Sorry for the simple question, but I can't find an answer. I have LE 8.2.2.3 running great on an SD card. I would like to test this Leia version, but I do not have an SD card available. I do have a USB drive available. If I prepare the USB and then boot it up (after removing the SD card) will this impact the SD from booting if I switch them out?
You can switch between as many usb/sd's you like;)

Interesting. Sadly I don't have an AVR which can show me what the output signal of the box.
My issue is with my TV switching into BT.2020 mode even in SDR mode if I use 10 bit output, this messes SDR up.
I guess I'll just have to come up with a script to enable 10bit for when I want to play a HDR video and disable it after playback has started so that the box comes out of 10 bits when the playback stops.
Regarding 1080P vs 2160P and color issues, I guess your best way to tell is to check what the AVR is saying. But it's possible that the TV responds differently to a 1080P 10 bit signal than it does to a 2160P 10 bit signal.
I just tried adding a button to the skin UI to execute the echo '444,10bit' command, but using System.Exec just locks up Kodi.
Well looks like I can't execute the echo command directly from Kodi. I guess it does not have permission to edit the file?
Doing this via a Python script doesn't work either. Any help would be appreciated. I rather not to rely on an external device to switch between the two modes, and would prefer to do the switching directly from Kodi's UI.
Any help would be appreciated.
What happens if you use 444, 10bit and GUI set to 2160p.(And adjust the saturation). On my TV 720, HD and UHD including HDR is perfect:) What happens on your's??
ps. Minde that the GUI Colors will be different than the video;)
