Will try with a native linux file system.
You will be going backwards with that plan.

since upgrading to 8.2.2.2 (and now on 8.2.2.3) I lost 802.11a connectivity.
[8.2.2.3] LibreELEC 8.2 for S905/S905X
What were you using before 8.2.2.2 & .3 that worked ?
Odroid-C2: you do not have to chose a device tree as it is embedded in kernel.img.
NOTE: If you are upgrading from someone else's build the safest way is to extract partition content from .img.gz image file and copy it to your SD card/eMMC.
Run from SD card/USB drive first. If it runs fine, connect to your box over SSH, execute installtointernal command and follow on-screen instructions. This command wipes SYSTEM and DATA partition!
for Odroid-C2 download image with -C2 suffix
Have you tried any of the above ?
The word [discontinued] has been present in the first post for a number of days now but I haven’t really seen anything to clarify what that means.
I would recommend this.
1. Flash oem android firmware
2. Burn LE image to sdcard
3. Try to boot with toothpick
4. Done
Armada Mach 8 s802
LAN Ethernet:10/100M
2gb / 8gb
Bit the Bullet and flashed OEM Android. (now no way going back to their Linux on this box)
Used OpenELEC-MX3G.arm-DualBootSD ZIP which applied script successfully for SD boot.
I first tried LibreELEC-S802.M8.arm-8.0.RC4.img but booted to Black Screen.
Then i tried LibreELEC-S802.S82.arm-7.0.3 which booted to libreelec splash screen with the following pic details.
The title includes S912 but there is no device tree for it using the link provided.
Top folder dtb.
I'll keep slugging away at it but if anyone can save my pain,
Might be of interest to you and others.
I have my TX7 on all the time. I woke up this morning and i turned the box off to connect another box.
The TX7 was using 8.2.2.2 whilst switched on overnight.
When i turned it back on , it found the new 8.2.2.3 image and proceeded to update.
So it looks like the update downloaded without a reboot or power off.
I was surprised but there must be a check for update without powering on
or maybe the new update push caused the update whilst box was on ??
Providing you have disabled intro video
I think this may be skin related. I've had no issues with Updates but don't use intro videos.
I have had some issues with App TV skin not correctly activating Enable/Disable addon updates.
I have to use Estuary to disable Auto Updates for individual addons.
Also Buffering wheel never appears unless i pause stream. It appears momentarily and disappears.
There's been a lot of changes in how skins work in Krypton and maybe the skin is the cause of notifications not appearing.
Why the update doesn't automatically happen for you is maybe the INTRO VIDEO is interrupting communication to the LE Server.
Maybe try APP/TV skin from Kodi Repo and use your intro video with that skin and see what happens.
I know it has that feature. I've never used it. Cheers.
My display ist 1920x1080 / 1080p with 60hz. Even when i play a 1080p file the resolution switches/the display goes black for a second or two.
Is that normal behaviour and it works like it should or is it possible to optimize sth?
That is a Refresh rate changing to match the movie/stream.
If you play a movie 23.976fps your screen will momentarily blank whilst the switch to 24hz occurs.
Or a stream that is 50hz will switch from your 60hz gui settings to 50hz.
You will see these settings under video.
I chose the default arm version
You need to use community build from my link above.
Then [HOWTO + FAQ] Install community builds on S905/S905X/S912 device
Please refrain from posting long logs on here directly. Quite frankly it’s a major annoyance. Thanks.
Direct your complaints to Pastebin or Administrators of LE Forum site. I only pasted the link to the log.
How it appears on this site is not something i can control.
Wow !!!!!!!!
That's pretty heavy.
Cheers GDPR-2 with whatever makes you happy.
No good doing something that causes you stress.
Let's rename this thread Mashed Potato
I developed a fix only for Ethernet, not WiFi.
Bored and purchased my first Dongle.
S905x 2gb/16gb wifi , no ethernet port. Everything works except.
I'm not so sure i have the exact same issue but i cannot get over 1Mbps using 2.4ghz wireless.
I also tried a usb 2,4ghz wifi dongle which gets almost full signal and the same issue.
Using 5ghz i get 20 to 25 Mbps with lower signal than 2.4ghz
Part of my log may or may not have to do with problem (set country Singapore)

EDIT: Just tried the same procedure using Android.
Same results as LibreElec using 2.4ghz wifi.
I supply dmesg using onboard wifi.
I tried flashing it with libreelec today
I have MeCool BB2 pro ( 3gb ram running android 6.1)

What have you tried to flash ?????
The link above is for s912 Chip.

That table must be from someone with really bad eyesight. I watched "Pacific Rims" the other day and when the stream switched from 1080p to 4K, everybody noticed even if we sat 3m from the TV.
Over xmas, I was at my sister's place. We watched some netfix-hd 3m from her 70" TV. Man, it was disgustingly ugly! 3 metres from that 70" Sharp, only 4k stuffs look good.
That table is only a Guide. It is not a table for Netflix which has too many variables in delivery of streaming Bitrates.
They use their own algorithm to deliver content based on available bandwidth you have and that is also governed by you ISP.
Deals between ISP'S and Netflix is another hidden factor in how this affects the quality of your viewing movies.
Using Netflix Streaming to compare 1080p and 4K CONTENT, you are not aware of how Netflix bitrates work.
You were probably watching that Pacific Rims movie Bitrate at 3 to 4 Mbps with 1080p.
When you switched to the 4K it probably changed to 12 to 14 Mbps bitrate.
They prioritise bandwidth for 4K.
Play the same movie via a high1080p bitrate file and then see what Netflix is dishing out.
The chart below shows that a 4k won’t be noticeable if you are sitting more than (2.32m) away and have a 60” TV. Your eyes won't be able to tell the difference. So in your case it will be noticeable. You are correct in your quote. Very few people are aware of their eye's limitations.
It is just a question of screen size and viewing distance. We watch a 60" tv from 2m and even my wife can tell the difference between 4k and fullhd.
Ultra HD only makes sense if you want a really big screen and plan on sitting closer to it playing 4K content.
In my case where I sit 4.5m from the 70” screen, it would be a waste of time upgrading unless i want to sit closer and under 2.72m from the screen.
In fact most 4K is nothing but marketing smoke and mirrors from TV manufacturers duping consumers into thinking they can distinguish between an upscaled 1080p high bitrate video stream and a 4K one from a normal lounge to 4K TV viewing distance.
I posted these facts a long time ago and got hammered by members.
Glad you brought it up again.
I sit over 4.5 metres away from my 1080p TV and at that distance 4K would be totally useless in my situation.
