It is a Kodi settings, so everyone can use it, but to what result is the right question
On S912 (together with GPU overclock) it solves the "Subtitle Stutter" problem, so it produces a worthy result.

To save a new file as .xml one just has to use Save As .xml - eXtensible Markup Language file format
For new .sh one has to use Save As .sh - Unix script file format
I suspect it's an encoding issue (did you create the xml file on a Windows machine in notepad?).
Just to add, on Windows machines .xml and .sh files can be done using "Notepad++"
Yup, I understand...
Anyway: since SOC are identical (so the computing power/abilities *should* be the same), would you rather invest on RAM or on storage capacity ? For example: do you prefer a 2/32 or a 3/16 device ?
For me, more important on these cheap octa core boxes than ram/storage is cooling capacity. Buy a box with decent cooling or one in which you can add a decent heasink. Usually big boxes are better in that area...
Are there some settings I should change or is this a hardware problem? Or am I just asking for too much from this box?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Several things you can try before changing the box:
First, check CPU temperature when it starts misbehaving. If it is approaching 80°C you have to attend to box's cooling - drill some holes in the case, get a better heat sink...
Second, get a decent 5V/2.5A power adapter, cause the 2 amps one you get with the box is not adequate for your use.
Third, when you sort above two things, you can overclock GPU for better poerformance.
Minix U9-H is a work horse, compared to s905 ponies, so it's a very good choice if you can afford it.
I read that the Amlogic S912 has some issues with Librelec. Is it better to choose a S905x then ?
What issues? Many issues are alrady solved, so be specific.
Looking to be the ultimate 8.2.x version.
Btw, any chance to solve "blocked merge" for the updated Mali drivers to r7p0 on CE?
I don't have this box, but on my X92 (quite a big box) with a passive heatsink 42x38x15 and a rectangle cat out in the cover over the heatsink, I get temps max to 58°C (typical 52-54°C) with overclocked GPU to 792MHz.
With the original hetasink 38x38x6 in the closed box the temp went over 70°C
Some heat sinks are glued to the processor and are not easy to remove without applying some heat and twisting motion.., on X92 is a "snap-on" type.
Good for you.., but I'm afraid it will get quite hot.
For decent S912 cooling one needs a heatsink with minimum dimension about 40x40x12mm, and good air flow through the box ...
I got an X92 S912 box for about 60 euro. The temperatures with original cooling went up to 65-68°C (No OverClock)
Simply replaced original heatsink (40x40x6mm) with THIS heatsink (36x42x15mm) for about 2 euro, and cut out top cover over new heatsink. Now my SoC temperatures go up to max 54-56°C with GPU overclocked to 972MHz...
Edit: dimension of the original cooler only 38x38x6mm
I understand that you are also in CoreElec team, and what interests me is, are bringing new settings into next version that solve my subttitle sttuter?
First is GPU overclock that I run from autostart.sh, and second is "remove all dirty regions" that i run from advancesettings.xml.
Would be more convinient to have both in Kodi Settings
Use Rii mini i8 wifi keyboard with any device along with original remote...
Will these additions ever find their way to CoreElec images?
Ask in this dedicated thread:
Okay, What is with the image from kszaq is it working Fine?
I worked with these images:
LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2-8.2.2.3.img, LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2-8.2.4.img, LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2.4-Subtitles-ff.img,
LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.90.4.img and CoreELEC-S912.arm-9.0-devel-1523265719.img
They ALL work fine on my X92 box
I got it from Gearbest at the beginning of the year, but now they offer only Android 6.0 versions.
