Use the LibreELEC installer to install an alpha version then upgrade to this retroplayer version

Also, in kodi you may want to enable the option "blank other displays" which can be found in settings -> system -> video

Looks to me like hardware failure maybe as the delay comes from ata device failures

That doesn't really make sense. The only reason I could think is that an Internet connection wasn't available because the language packs are installed as add-ons.

You can set it to kiosk mode in the chromium add-on settings under "window mode"

You mucked something. Or you have files on your drive that crash kodi. Unplug all usb drives and SD cards and see if you think still crashes. If it does then something else is wrong that isn't related to this script.

if you run the command manually does it work? You will have to find the devpath, it should be /dev/hidraw0 or /dev/hiddev0

/usr/lib/udev/hid2hci --mode=hid --method=csr2 --devpath=/dev/hid<something>

the easiest thing to do would be to amend the /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/97-hid2hci.rules file

copy it to where it is writeable

cp /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/97-hid2hci.rules /storage/.config/udev.rules.d/

then edit it there

nano /storage/.config/udev.rules.d/97-hid2hci.rules

You can add your devices vendor and product ids to make it run specifically for your device.

udevadm info -q all -a /dev/hiddev*
udevadm info -q all -a /dev/hidraw*

look for

ATTRS{idProduct}=="21e8"
    ATTRS{idVendor}=="0a5c"

if there is no /dev/hid* path then hid2hci cannot be used.
