Thanks, it was not a link, I just bolded for emphasis. I found reference to it in another thread but I could not discern from the discussion if it was relevant to my query nor how to install/use it. I just thought (from the name of it!) that it might be something relevant.

Hello,
I have LE 8.2.5 running on an x86 machine. It is in suspend mode when not in use (I think S3).
Is it possible to set a wake timer in order to resume from sleep automatically at the same time every day (eg 3am) ?
I found reference to setwakeup.sh but I am not sure if it will suit my purpose nor how to use it.
Thanks

Syncthing does what you want. It runs on LE and Windows and is easy to install an configure.
Thanks for suggestion, I will check it out.
File/folder sync is not exactly what I am looking for, as the files I want to send do not permanently reside on the sending machine.

why not use the ftp server (proftpd)?
scp?
Are there add-ons (or built in functionality) for these protocols? Apologies if question is dumb.
What is a good method to know the public IP address of the LE box at home ? (it changes periodically). I guess I need some kind of DynaDNS type service?

Hi,
Basically I want to send a media file to my LE machine (at home) while I am in another location (eg office). So the file is already there when I come home.
The machine doing the 'send' is a windows machine so whatever solution needs to be compatible. The LE machine receiving the file will be powered on (of course).
I am aware of BTSync so that is one possibility I will look into. But I am not really looking for a 'sync', I just want to push a file.
Are there other solutions ? I don't know anything about SFTP...is that an option ?

thanks for that tried, everything, think its a dud, feels like it has nothing inside of it lol, sending it for a return, i guess ill try again
Did you put batteries into it ?

That is the exact one I currently have shipping in the mail for my ODROID C2.
I will then be able to finalise mapping and also get that exact remote added to the LibreELEC master code.
You will still have to run a simple one line script to install some u.dev rules to get it to work.
I consider these ABS plastic Xiaomi remotes the best one the market.
Design wise, ergonomics, button clickiness, repeat delay responsiveness. Xiaomi have nailed it IMHO for a simple BT remote.
Hi, thanks for info.
Will it ever work out of the box without scripts? I am planning to order a couple but at least one will be for someone else and loading on scripts would be a no-go. I thought the latest beta changelog mentioned support for it.

I have two models of the remote. One uses a CR2032 coin battery and the other uses two AAAs. Both are good, but the CR2032 model is weighted (I actually disassembled it to see) and feels more substantial in the hand, despite being about 5mm thinner. I suspect (but haven't verified) the AAA model is classic Bluetooth, and the CR2032 Bluetooth Low Energy (which would explain the battery differences).
Overall though, they can't be beaten for the price. Clickiness, size, feel and response time are fabulous and far better than what you'd normally expect for a $10 remote. Wrxtasy deserves great credit for getting these working. I bought several about this time last year and held onto them—despite no proper support or ability to use them—because I knew eventually that others would see the quality and want to get them working with LibreELEC.
Thanks for reply.
They are working out of the box now (since latest beta) ?
Have you seen them cheaper than this anywhere?

Decided to do a DIY because the Xiaomi Remote really deserves to get some LibreELEC lovin'
It's the best simple remote I've ever used especially with Android TV on WeTek devices !
Work in Progress - Connect Xiaomi Mi Box BT remotes to LibreELEC devices (click)
Is it a good remote? Good button response, build quality and so forth?

Need more info. How are you powering the Pi? Are you using HDMI-CEC? Does your TV have a HDMI-CEC option 'shutdown devices' ?

Hello,
I was thinking of getting a Fire TV remote (model CV98LM) to pair with RPi via bluetooth. This model:
Does anybody use this remote? It works okay, has good range and response ?
Thanks for any imput

The version of Samba we use is not vulnerable to the SMB exploit as compile options we set disable the vulnerable code path.
The issue is not so much that people are worried about the LE machine being exploited.
People are nervous about leaving SMB v1 enabled on their Windows machine. For some time it's been highly advised to disable it (and these recent exploits show why). Right now Kodi (on linux) users can't do that or they'll lose access to their shares.

I have heard of similar issue with Asrock Apollo Lake motherboards. Sometimes going to BIOS screen twice after a cold boot. I recall some reports on Kodi forums.
I think it might just be bad hardware.
-
Most likely a motherboard/BIOS issue. Check for BIOS update (always some small risk)
Second possibility is maybe dying storage device or bad storage device connection.
-
I think this issue was a little overblown, it was dealt with quickly and afaik there were no reports of active exploits in the wild (just a proof of concept by a researcher).
However in the future I think Kodi is going to be a big target for malware attacks. Security is something users and devs should both keep in the forefront of their minds.

Good news, thanks for the update.

Is there a workaround that I can use ? I am quite happy with the build I am on. Is disabling subtitles enough?
Just don't use an automatic subtitle downloader add-on.

So it is about a year later and I am just wondering if there is any news or plans to enable SMB 2 support ? I would very much like to disable SMB1 on my media server.
