inflated price: much cheaper then anything in the same league
shitty cooling system: the coolest box ever even under heavy load
    number of other errors: :)

Consider. N2 80 (empty Board) + 4 (case) + 30 (32GB emmc and recording adapter) + 8 (WiFi) + 6 (power supply) + 4 (remote control) + 40 shipping. A total of more than 170. Soon there will be TV boxes on s922 and I have no doubt that their price is clearly not going to be so prohibitive. Or I can already take for this amount RK3399 with much more features (PCIe , support for video cameras, WoL, etc.), which will never be in N2. The funny thing is that rk3399 in real work, only 10-20% slower at maximum load. And given that in this topic, discussed LE (KODI), which is the most meager load, nor any benefits from a little more performance there. Much cheaper S905X2 easily replaces S922. Additional features of VPU\GPU-are now a minus, not a plus, because they have support only in closed legacy drivers from the kernel 3.14 (which are stuck in the kernel 4.9). And I don't see a lot of content that needs innovation from the G52. Regarding performance-I recommend to carefully study all the "tests" that were performed with N2 and if you are careful, you will see a lot of falsehood in them. Especially funny looks, the choice of the competitor with which to compare N2 - N1 does not exist. By the way, this is another reason why I would not rush to buy N2 - new owners of HK at any time can give an order to close this project (there is a sad experience with N1). It's funny to see the dilettantes talk about the cooling system. Under load, the chip temperature rises more than 70 degrees, this means that the radiator (which is idiotically located at the bottom and under the entire area of the motherboard) starts to work as a heater for the entire area of the motherboard. In which there are many metal conductors through which the entire structure and other components (memory, etc.) is actively heated. I.e., to heat themselves, it adds a good porchia heat from the processor. This clearly reduces their resource and overall performance. Probably this, N2 at the maximum load, shows acceleration at 10-20 % . Another problem, the heat that the components emit + additional heat from the lower radiator is "locked" in a plastic case, creating a greenhouse effect. Personally I have no desire to throw 170-180 and then spend time reworking mistakes constructors (remove the radiator and cover it from the motherboard insulating spacers and to invent how to add fan in this stupid design

    Cough cough !!!

Talk about a Pinocchio post... why don't you exaggerate some more and see how long that nose of yours can grow !

I'm not interested in dealing with children.

Actually Hardkernels stuff i have watched pretty much since they started as it was one of the few sources of the leaked SoC docs so i have kinda watched them for awhile and if anyone is going to get any real help from AML it would be from some one like him. I have a few of his boards here as well and there well put together.

Unfortunately, HK has made a number of serious mistakes recently, after which I do not consider their products as a good option (the rejection of the N1 in favor of the firm's AML, etc.). N2 is a slightly extended version of the usual TV box at an inflated price, and having a shitty cooling system, from which more problems than benefits and a number of other errors .

thank you for your input, I know I did not start this thread but I too have been looking for a new box, after buying both the x99 and the Vero 4K+ and after buying a 4K TV my chromebox is a bit outdated for 4K, that said, I am not confident enough to test a Magicsee N6 Max RK3399, since like the x99 I did not see a img for the x99 (rk3399) here specifically for the x99 or the Magicsee N6 Max RK3399. So with just this thread and a couple of posts here and there I think I will test RockPro64, I will purchase the following:
    ROCKPro64 Premium Aluminum Case
ROCKPro64 Slim Profile Graphene Heat Sink
    ROCKPro64 board
12V/5A Power Supply (US Plug) and a
High Performance eMMC Module, I think that should do it. If anyone has anything to add, would truly appreciate any input.

If you have a task, only watching videos via LE (and running Linux for a normal user), it is better to use the TV box. This is optimal in terms of costs and results. But if you plan to use this device for development or you will need additional options That dy boards have, then the choice of TV box is not justified.

To run LE on TV box you can try this version.

Please note that you need to use the correct DTB for proper operation. As part of your image there are a few DTB and you can try all of these files. To specify which DTB option to use , edit the file "/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf" (specify the name of the DTB file).

    p.s.

Can be not to pay attention on name images. These are universal images.

Perhaps the Rock64 would be a better choice.. I'm beginning to get the impression that RK3399 will run too hot for LibreElec or other Linux distros with these smaller cases. What are the currently recommended rockchip SoC for 4k60fps?

If you have not yet chosen anything, today I tested Magicsee N6 Max RK3399 (4\32) with the latest version of LE. Everything is working - wired LAN, WiFi, BT, remote control. Start Linux (Armbian) - overall impression from speed work-positive. Neither of which retards when run from SD card.

Would it be possible/practical to advise what has been added/modified between each of your builds with expected improvements?

    Updated panfrost driver and kernel.

PS Is it possible to download latest tar into LibreELEC update folder and update then re-boot to update, without need to destroy previous build on SD with user settings saved etc (know I can create a back-up if not)

Starting LE is possible from any SD or USB media. Therefore, for tests, you can use any simple media on a USB flash drive. Or install in the eMMC checked the version of LE that works for you and to run the test images to use external media.

    a Vega S95 box, hence:

    Vega S95 = S905

    Vega S96 = S912

    :)

Is it possible to overclock odroid C2?

It was possible to edit the boot.ini file and set max_freq to 1752.

Are these settings move into another config file or is it removed?

There are no such options in core 4 and core 5.

I noticed that CEC isn't working or do i need to enable it in extlinux.conf somewhere?

I didn't check CEC . I don't know what it takes on an Odroid C2. I've compiled the images for the Odroid C2 for trial only. The main image developer for Odroid C2 CvH. Try asking him.

    1. Is Rufus with the boot DD option in settings the best way to burn your images?

You may need to use different recording software on different operating systems (and versions). I can not guarantee the operation of one program on all versions of the OS.

Do we also need the label to be LIBREELEC?

Yes, all my images use the label, so the functions are installed in eMMC is based on the label.

    2. Are there any tools to build custom JeOS images like the ones that you can share with us?

Sory I don't understand your question.

    3. Is it possible to switch between HDMI and AV ports automatically, without having to update disp_cap via SSH every time?

How can the system know what it needs to use (If both outputs are available and can output sound.) ?

Tried latest build on M96X+ box with q201 dtb. It boots but without network. No wired no wireless no bluetooth.

Try all dtb options for gxm* group

I have the same device, I have a friend, but we couldn't.

We could not make this image nor Multi-boot can do.

However, I would like to use a kernel-based version of version 4 *.

Without getting a log of the start process of the system (u-boot) from the console UART, no one will be able to help you. Do you know at what stage the error is ? I'm not psychic enough to guess it without a log or equipment.

do you have a S912 box on which your 4.x mainline (plus patch) kernel images run with a working network connection and USB? If so, can you please share (also pm are ok) which dts you use and the dmesg output after boot?

There is something to address here. Q201 dts use irq for phy link management, while apparently most of the box out there does not have it so polling shall be used. Also there are some box with ZTE phy that shall run default eth2 reg (the old cali_val attribute in 3.4.x amlogic kernel).

Are you interested in my s912 models on which I run LE or any Linux system ?

    LE 4.20

Khadas VIM2 Basic 2\16 - work all (without BT)

Khadas VIM2 Max 3\64 - work all (without WiFi BT)

Tronsmart Vega S96 - work LAN USB remote control (no WiFi BT)

Also on these models works Armbian with kernel 5.0 (SD USB LAN no HW panfrost )

    1. Does installtointernal work on your latest LE kernel 4.xx build ? ( A recent comment said that the proprietary Amlogic formatting doesn't work on kernel 4.xx.)

This script is no longer in my builds. Instead, a new version of the installation system through the GUI. All operations can now be performed without the use of SSH, by standard controls from KODI. There is a special menu in Libreelec Settings (create\restore a full copy of eMMC and install LE in eMMC).

Pay attention. The new installation system only works with the new multi-boot option. Ie before installing to eMMC should be upgraded multi-boot to the latest version using the captured image, using toothpicks or from the Android menu (everything needed is in the part of the image, neither of which is download additional is not necessary). The installation system saves all important data from the standard firmware and allows you to later restore the standard Android (firmware) by conventional means of USB Burn Tool. Importantly. All the tests I conduct when using the regular eMMC firmware Android how it will work (or even work) setting when placed in eMMC other systems (Libreelec Armbian etc) I don't know. Perhaps in some cases it will work, but I do not give any guarantees.

Importantly. Be sure to create a full backup of the eMMC using the menu items before installing it on the eMMC and keep the backup in a safe place (it is located in the /backup/ddbr directory). This will restore the system to its exact state at the time of the copy.

    2. How about audio support with HDMI and with AV connection? I am a bit confused.

HDMI sound works in all images. AV-will appear as far as possible.

You have just uploaded an image today. What did you change?

Changed repositories Addons LE. Now all images (arm, aarch64) uses the repository chewitt.

Added a new version of the image for Odroid C2, now it works HDMI sound. Replaced on the website version of images S905 to the new correction, for work sound HDMI platform gxbb files DTB gxbb* (corrected DTB files for model Tronsmart Vega S95). Tried to run new images on Tronsmart Vega S95, but the system does not start, as in eMMC outdated u-boot-2015. Pay attention to those who have the model with the chip gxbb S905, it is possible on some models, where u-boot a newer system will be able to work. For those who have u-boot too old-the new LE will be able to run only after the u-boot update.

i seen the Khadas EDGE write ups and stuff but didn't think it was available yet or is there someplace to actually get one?

As far as I know, the project is ongoing (and new options are being prepared).

Indiegogo Update #3 - Khadas Edge - Khadas Community

You can request a purchase here. If you need help with the purchase (getting a sample), write to me in the PM forum Khadas, I will try to help (contact you with a representative Khadas).

On newest build the usb sound works nicely, but the Ethernet needs every time to be reactivated after reboot in libreelec settings. Is there a way to avoid that?

Try running the external media version for Odroid C2 (by changing the dtb). I'm interested in how the network will work.

Thanks, the new image works with usb sound! Will there be also a arm version to use amazon vod/netflix?!

I'm not a psychic to guess what model (image) in question.

I uploaded a test version for Odroid C2 to the website 20190124.

For use. After burning the image to the Sd card, it is necessary to edit the file "/extlinux/extlinux.conf " - specify the DTB for Odroid C2 in it. Checked on your Odroid C2. The standard audio output via HDMI does not work yet. Works USB sound cards (I checked several different models, everything works). USB WiFi works (I tested on one simplest option I have). KODI interface does not slow down at 1080p, the mouse works fast. The wired network works. Please check the operation of the standard remote control for Odroid C2.

If you have any more ideas on how to solve this friend

    I'm your beta test!

All the instructions on how to activate multiboot exactly says that you need to use the toothpick method or the Android application (Update&backup) to start the activation of multiboot. Attempted to run the recovery or TWRP will not be able to be activated.

    The same thing happens here

I waited up to 15 minutes.

    Unsuccessfully!

After activation, the system automatically tries to start LE. If you have not correctly configured which DTB to use , the system will not be able (after auto-activating multi-boot) to continue starting LE.

I edited the uEnv.ini file with my existing dtb folder meson-gxl-s905d-ki-pro.dtb

DTB's test which is added AFL1, I didn't check his work. Maybe he's not working. Check the run with different DTB.

Even so the image does not leave the screen mecool!

You are sure that your equipment is working DTB ? Do you know other users (or have seen the description) with the same model as you who have a kernel 4 (LE or Armbian) running ?
