    this is great news, feels like a dream how fast this happened! also if you know how or can use AI, you can set a button on your remote to load YouTube addon. You'll have to change your keyboard.xml and figure out the command to launch and the command for your key. using AI it would help you and guide you. as soon as you press the button it will stop kodi and load YouTube. once you do that, you can start customising more menus, like a button to load your library etc. But the YouTube button will make it feel instant when you want to go into YouTube.

    for the other parts, you can mess around with AI to see if can help. send the source code to chatgpt and ask

    Their box simply cannot output the video signal properly because of how 10th Gen Intel chips handle video connections.

    Here is exactly what is happening to that user, broken down:

    1. The 10th Gen Intel Display Limitation (Intel Display 9)

    As noted right in the developer's documentation under known limitations, Intel 10th Gen (Comet Lake) uses an older display architecture (Display 9) that cannot natively pass native HDMI HDR10, HLG, or HDR10+ signals through this Linux display driver stack.

    When the user attempts to play a Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL file, the custom CB1 engine tries to process the base video layer and the enhancement layer. However, because the Intel NUC’s HDMI port cannot handle the required signaling handshake with their LG C2 TV under this build, the video engine crashes or fails to render entirely. The TV triggers its default "HDR" badge because it detects an HDR metadata packet, but it gets zero video frames from the NUC.

    2. The Marantz Receiver Complexities

    Intel NUCs of this generation are notorious for display handshaking issues when routed through an Audio/Video Receiver (AVR) like their Marantz SR7011.

    • Dolby Vision on PCs requires incredibly precise "tunneling" metadata packets.
    • Passing this uncertified, custom Linux Dolby Vision signal through an older HDMI 2.0 AVR (the Marantz SR7011) to a modern HDMI 2.1 TV (the LG C2) frequently breaks the video chain completely on Intel hardware.

    You'll need a new box. Unless you have a different one. N100 was optimised and will handle everything except some converstions, but if all you want to do is play DV using DV source, it will play it. Ryzen 3500U is like the base to handle everything and recommended. if you looking to get a new box. Aliexpress has a sale on right not for UK and in about 7 hours for USA. check this thread

    Hi! I’m new here and came across this project while looking for a way to play Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL on a PC-based setup.

    I haven’t bought any hardware yet and would appreciate a recommendation before I do.

    my setup / use case:

    • TV: LG OLED77CX9LA
    • sources: UHD Blu-ray remuxes in MKV, Profile 7 FEL (single-track, BL+EL+RPU); MP4 dual track possible too
    • goal: DV Standard (TV-led) output with full FEL reconstruction, no frame drops

    Check for used 3500U or R2544 in ebay, but I don't think you'll get as cheap as what aliexpress are selling new. happy to help out on hardware thread if I can. Dev got R2544 for 90 euros, this will be faster than any box you currently have to. also welcome.

    the DV stuff should be fine playing, some conversions might be close or over the capabilities. something comfortable is like the 3500U, I can't find anything like that in finless. CroqueMr will have to chime in. I still think the firebat I mentioned above will be fanless , just set the fan curve high, so trigger it at 55 degrees. run it at eco mode of 15W. the system is supposed to handle like 54W and when watching movies the GPU won't even sweat, you also have LPDDR5. box is beefy to. if you share how you intend to use it, dev could advise on what platform his software will handle. also maybe he thinks the firebat will also be quiet. there are ways to later mod to the box if it comes to it. I have reason to believe the requirements will get lower so a fanless N150 probably could do it, but very close. consider getting the firebat cheap on offer, then checking if it works like I think it will. if it doesn't, sell on ebay for profit . will be worth a $100 more than you pay for it

    What's your budget? Aliexpress deals are tonight, check my previous posts. that's as high end as you can get , it will be virtually silent and you can change the TDP to like 12W in bios and change fan curve to turn on when it hits like 55 degrees. it would be silent. it depends on where you live, since I can't get that box in UK and have the GMKtek K12 as an offer instead. the K12 is much beefier cooling design. I think both will be silent as hell, but first what's your budget, have you shopped in aliexpress before and where in world you live like in the USA?

    AI is saying the H 255 has officially lowest TDP at 15W if you want. inside Firebot bios we can set the TDP, and AI is saying setting it to 12W will not affect single core performance, but will multi core. but we should expect zero frame drops
    At a strict 12W processor limit, the Firebat F1 will be practically silent, with a noise level settling below 25 dBA
    also will help longevity by running so low. could experiment and see what works. These Mini PC's are lower power than S928X? if you configure them

    it's far far bigger than the firebat, also even barebones it's like $240 used, it will be far noiser, you better of with the $291 system I gave. It's very cheap for the hardware, Dev was recommending 3500U for around $220, and you most likely only get single channel DDR4 with that system at that price, which is enough but limits the GPU at half the speed, the firebat has full dual channel and it's Low power RAM , so it's ideal here, it's 2.6x the single core speed and 3x the GPU (single vs dual)

    you get only 16GB, you probably only need 4GB for LibreELEC. the SOC is far more capable Ryzen 7 H255. it's like TOTAL COST $307.74 (after $60 discount), you guys might have cashback sites.
    I just checked and it says only 1 left, though not sure if they mean it. this is a better device but the other one was overkill also. so pick this if stocks else pick other

    The Ryzen 7 H255 is 122% faster in single-core CPU speed and roughly 300% faster in GPU performance than the Ryzen 5 3500U. (assuming single DDR4 for 3500U system)

Vulcan is more closer to bare metal than current implementation right? does this mean your implementation has reduced minimum hardware requirements , so say a 3200U or even lower can handle what previously needed a 3500U? any further optimisations do you think you have left to squeeze? very cool stuff btw. I don't have DV hardware, I just find it cool so join in conversations

I started looking at people who were asking about best Dolby Vision hardware, and then post directly to them in a post (reddit), sent out like 20 copy past messages, reddit flagged me and banned my account, along with all my posts. dammit, kind of sad now. had plans to create new posts when CroqueMr updated with fixes. damn they just get you of the platform so easily
