Yes, I know it's a joke, I said this above.

But as part of the joke they have taken the support forum down, the add-on repo down, the download links. Which has caused problems for a lot of people, many of whom didn't even know of the ICE joke until after spending a hour troubleshooting.

It's just silly and poorly-executed. You can make the same joke without borking systems.

Maybe it's clear to you who 'they' are. It's not to me. Maybe I've missed something though.

That's fine if you know in advance it's a joke. A lot of people had botched updates, were trying to install skins, add-ons etc. Spent time trying to fix it, before going to kodi.tv and seeing that everything was offline as a 'joke'. There's nothing funny about wasted time trying to fix something to find out afterwards that the repos and download links have been deliberately pulled down as a joke.

It's clearly a joke. It's just not clear whose joke.

Thanks trogggy for this post. I have an old 525 harmony remote and I note that you have the same one. Had 2 questions.

1 problem I have been having is that I find the stop function takes about 3-5 sec to work. The video stops immediately but then freezes and it doesn't return to the previous screen for 3-5 seconds. On the other hand, if I access the onscreen control and click on the stop button, it does it immediately.

Also I note that return to dvd menu doesn't work. It shows another screen which is basically blank and after pressing OK, it then goes to the main DVD menu. Again using the onscreen DVD menu button, it works immediately.

Is there anything I can change.

    Thanks

All I can suggest is what I'd do if confronted by that...
    - enable debug logging
    - open the log on my pc
    - start film
    - refresh log and scroll to the end
    - press 'stop' on the remote
    - refresh the log again, copy the lines showing what happened (on pressing stop) to a new file
    - start the film again
    - bring up the osd and navigate to 'stop'
    - refresh log and scroll to the end
    - press 'stop' in the osd
    - refresh the log again, copy the lines showing what happened (on pressing stop in the osd) to the new file
Then compare the 2. And if you can't figure it out post the snippets here. And if I can't figure it out start a new thread.

Or to put it more concisely:
Enable debug logging, see what happens when you hit a button.
    Same for the DVD menu.

I should say I've never seen those issues, but I don't play DVDs. Does the stop button still cause a 'hang' if playing from a file or stream?

I found a video outlining how to update my chromebox from openelec to libreelec. The problem is, when i navigate to the IP address, there is no update file. In fact, the page that I am sent to has "Kodi" and the Kodi symbol in the left corner of the screen, and Profiles, Remote, Movies, TV, and Music along the right side. Nothing else to indicate where to drag the update file.

I do not know what to do now. I can follow directions (I think), but I am not computer literate.

    Thank you in advance.

From your description I think you're sticking the IP address in the address bar of your web browser (internet explorer by any chance?).
You should be using windows explorer (as in when you go to 'My Computer').

No sir. I have not. I'm not sure if the libreelec OS is compatible with any of the devices I have used so far. I actually just deduced the Xonfluence Power option is a Firestick Android OS issue last night when I loaded it on my phone.

Posting here about it makes no sense then - this is a libreelec specific forum, so generic 'kodi' problems are best referred to and addressed at the main kodi forum.
If you look there in the skin support > confluence section you'll find a thread dedicated to xonfluence, where Helly (the author) will respond to genuine issues. So if there is one the opportunity is there to fix it, rather than apply a sticking plaster.
Normally you'd be best served by reproducing the problem with debug logging enabled, pasting your log to eg pastebin.com and referencing that in your post. That way it can be seen whether there is genuinely a skin issue.
Having said that I searched the thread and only found one post from 12 months ago that seemed relevant - which suggests it's most likely not a Xonfluence issue.
    To quote Helly:

This is probably not a skin issue. As I told before, a skin is only a cosmetic layer over the Kodi engine. I can make a button, but (for most of the buttons) I'm not responsible of what is executed when pressing that particular button.

So if you (and a lot of other people) encounter problems, here is what to do:
    * Check your logfile. Is the error skin.xonfluence related then I'm interested. You can send me the logfile and I can have a look.
    * Try the same thing with the default Confluence skin. Does this also happen on Confluence, than it is certainly not a skin issue and you need to post this issue then in a different forum.

Maybe it's a new issue that's appeared in the Jarvis version of Xonfluence. It's not impossible.
Either way this isn't the right place to get something useful done.

    [hr]
The Xonfluence skin Power button on the bottom left of the screen has 2 menu options: 1) Exit 2) Skin. The Exit option with the Firesick makes a noise but does not exit Kodi. Also, the menu Power options do not highlight the user selection with a solid color (green in my case) like other screens with the Firestick. This bug appears to be unique to the Firestick Android OS. I loaded the exact Kodi setup onto my phone and the Power menu options work fine. As far as your question is concerned, I have only worked with one other skin...Confluence. The Confluence skin Power menu has only one option:. Exit. The Confluence Exit works fine on the Firestick and on my Android phone as well.

So we've established that there isn't an issue on your android phone.
There is an issue on your firestick. But you've no idea what's causing it.
Have you used xonfluence on libreelec?

    Thanks for your input.
I was hoping for a way, without having to make a custom image. Mostly due to my laziness.

I've used custom nodes in the past and they definitely go in the userdata folder. If they don't work in userdata/library then you've done it wrong or there's a bug.

I guess you don't read too well. I did a Google search for "Problems with Kodi skin changes" and libreelec came up FIRST in my Google search results. The title on this page states "Just enough OS for Kodi". I am new to the Kodi software (I guess you didn't read that either). I do not know what it states on the Xonfluence thread of the Kodi forum (again I am new to Kodi) and it has no relevance. You are incorrect when you state "there is nothing to suggest it is a skin problem". If you make a change to the skin (as I did) and the skin Power button does not allow you to exit properly (like in my case) and when you exit and return then your skin no longer has the changes that you made to it (like in my case) then it is definitely a skin problem. If this problem repeats itself 7-10 times (like in my case) then that is a skin issue. The source of the problem may reside elsewhere (however doubtful that may be) but the skin stability is directly affected. I provided a solution that works regardless of where the problem originates.

It's apparent that you are new to the software.
    I'll leave it at that.

That's great. I'm glad that you did not have my experience. But if you were to do a Google search, then you will find people who lost their skin changes. It happened to me...not once, not twice, or three times. But it happened to me 7-10 times with Xonfluence. Did you use the Xonfluencce skin with the Firestick on Kodi 16.1 or Kodi 17? The issue is that the Power button does not exit the Kodi program when "Exit" is selected with the remote...or it takes entirely too long. I do not know but I did find a solution that worked in my case. In fact, I lost skin changes once with Kodi 17 using Confluence (not Xonfluence) and that surprised me because Confluence comes with the Kodi software. Luckily, I had already used the Skin Helper backup program and was able to restore everything easily. In reality, there are 2 issues with the Xonfluence skin: 1) Poor logic on the Skin edit screen and 2) A bug with the Power off button. The Skin Edit screen should save your skin settings immediately when you exit that screen but it does not...at least not permanently. The skin changes do not appear to save permanently until you exit the program properly.

What does this have to do with libreelec?
The issue has been discussed in the xonfluence thread on the kodi forum. There's nothing to suggest it's a skin problem.

You are wrong. It worked to turn it on and off using sony remote. When tv went ON also pi went ON. BUt then I had pi connected with usb to tv. Now I have separate power supply.
In that case I need to buy a longer usb and connect it back to tv.

I guess what you were doing there was turning the tv off, which cut power to the usb port. About the worst way to turn a pi on and off that doesn't involve using a hammer.
