Electrical issue how? I stated that a fully working Raspberry Pi 3b+ was working right before unplugging it and works if I plug back in.

Do your devices work with s short HDMI cable. I think that’s what you were being asked. If they do then it’s probably down to some form of electrical issue caused by using 50ft HDMI cables with your Renegade devices.

Unfortunately, it happened again. I really don't have any idea, why this happens and when it happens. Am I really the only one?

Sounds like you have a delay streaming between server and client. There’s a bottleneck somewhere along the line. Not sure what tuner you’re using but I’d start with the server. Ensure your signal levels in TVH are strong enough too.

Try using something like VLC to check the stream on the server for any issues. If needs be do a fresh install of TVH on your server.

If that all checks out ok remove every addon except TVH client in LE. Run some further checks when you’ve done that.

I have a dual boot system on my PC with Linux Mint and Windows. I know just enough about Linux to be dangerous but never had any Linux file system issues in 10 years so I'll ditch the NTFS and redo with ext4. Seems the path of least resistance might work for me. NTFS seems like replacing a broken Ford part with cheap one from China and expecting equal performance.

It’s really that simple. Courses for horses. Unplugging a drive to plug it into a Windows system to be able to read it. What a pita. Nobody needs that hassle.

I don't think speed will be an issue just compatability with my LE system. 8 tb of our DVDs, music, photos etc. I usually copy Files to the working system SSD for viewing so unless ext4 is slower than cold molassas it should work fine. The only reason to even deal with Windows was file repair so sounds like a worthwhile project and test for future updates. Soon as the wife gets her stuff all packed and we move into our new home I'll give ext4 a whirl. Thanks to all that responded!

You say the only reason you deal with Windows is file repair. You do realise that Linux has the best file repair tools known to mankind. So many Windows users come to me when all hope of recovery has failed and Linux repair tools save the day.

Anyway this is not about Linux v Windows. This is about a Linux based OS LE and yes Ext4 is your best option unless those SATA drives are old slow clunkers and you’ll see from the link I posted what your options are. Regarding the wife, well that’s a completely different story and way above my pay grade.

I've come to the conclusion changing my external storage format to a Linux flavor may save some irritating file repairs. Which might work best with LE? The storage drives are 4TB conventional SATA hard drives Deskstar I think. Suggestions appreciated.

Read this. It explains the pros and cons of each type. Pointless me reproducing this here so here’s the link https://linuxiac.com/linux-file-sys…should-you-use/

The best upgrade would be to a recent-ish Intel motherboard with integrated graphics, as those are going to support HEVC + 4K and most of the recent ones do HDR too (although HDR support is still work-in-progress in Kodi). I can't advise anything specific though as I didn't run an Intel CPU device for LE/OE use in the last decade (only ARM boards) and Intel breeds "lake" codenamed chips faster than I can keep tabs on the damn things.

Minimum Kaby Lake for decoding HEVC in Linux. Won’t encode though. Later GPU required for that. Sky Lake did HEVC decoding in Windows using a hybrid driver but that wasn’t ported to Linux. For LE definitely an ARM processor to maximise graphics output performance.

This has been debated in the past. It would be nice, but when things fcuk up (and they will, frequently) we become the bad guys who killed some users Windows install with pictures of their first-born child, favourite dead dog, etc.

Not supporting it, ever, sidesteps the issue, so 110% never happening.

For those who fear life without Windows but need the Linux experience there’s always the dual boot Windows/Linux OS with full Kodi.

With hardware mentioned above there’s really no benefit installing LE as most of additional hardware like RAM etc is lost on a platform like that.

Your RPI3/4 is the ideal candidate for a JeOS based on the appliance model which clearly your Dell PC is not.

petediscrete - I am trying to make myself clear. I am not having problems with my ISP or the YouTube addon. Both are working perfectly. Because of a YouTube buffering issue caused by YouTube themselves (maybe just in my area), the videos were frozen, causing LE's controls to freeze. I pressed stop/ff/rew/back and other buttons, and none responded. After 5 minutes I rebooted my NUC. I am just wondering why LE would not respond to my commands when the YouTube video was frozen.

Fine. Now you’ve been asked to post the log. I’ve no problem understanding what you’re saying but it had to come from somewhere else.

I imagine you’d need to post logs to allow a closer look at the issue.

Sounds like you’re banging your head off the wall trying to get CEC working. No doubt at this stage your HDMI cables are up to the job and you’ve swapped them in and out to verify this.

Next I’d look at any other peripherals that may be attached that are causing a possible conflict: All HDMI peripherals must allow HDMI pass through. Again the most simplest of setups first to try and rule this in or out.

Finally I’d look at the TV you are using. Have you tried an alternative TV to see if you can replicate or rule out the issue. Again I’ve no doubt you’ve read this simple checklist but I’ll include the link for others who may stumble across this thread https://www.howtogeek.com/207186/how-to-…you-should/amp/

Ironically the reason you may not see a lot of posts on the web concerning CEC issues is that possibly users just get it to work or maybe users just don’t use it.

Had a look at that link and its going the opposite way to what I'm looking for - I don't want to control the TV from something else I want the TV to send command to Kodi.

    That's the one I have - I couldn't find anything else.

If you’re intent on CEC then the Raspberry Pi seems like your only option. I’ve no idea if you’ve tried or not or if you succeeded. Seems to be the most logical choice at this stage.
