I'm now seeing the latest version doesn't even have analogue output as an audio option anymore. So that's a definite deal-breaker for me with my old stereo system. Apparently I'm expected to either replace my hardware/stereo, or buy an additional adapter (micro-HDMI to audio) just because Kodi thinks I should be limited to just HDMI and bluetooth outputs?

I can go back to running the old version 9 that had analogue, but even so, it has that 1.5x speed limit, and terrible audio to video sync, so it's still just lame for my needs.

I could use OSMC instead, but I don't think that will help if this is a limitation in Kodi.

And. if only "0.00001% of Kodi users" want faster speed, then even if I'm the ONLY one, then there still aren't that many Kodi users in the whole world I bet to make that numerically true.

Honestly, anyone who doesn't feel the need to speed up their audio/video at all IMO seems kinda "slow" to me, so maybe the Kodi world isn't the place for me at all. LOL

For "best results" I want to watch stuff faster.

This software has an adjustment for every tiny setting that really doesn't matter, and yet leaves out one of the most important one of all. I had to look up where that particular one is:

    Settings/Player/Videos - Official Kodi Wiki

Holy crap, it worked! I can go fast. Unfortunately it still tops out at only 1.5, but it's better than 1.0 at least.

Now if only that adjustment was super easy, super obvious, and had way more granularity, like setting it in 0.1 increments all the way up to 2.5x or 3.0x. Maybe if the devs ever read this... then next update. Or maybe there is a configuration file I can update?...

    Thanks!

    PR's welcome :)

None of that is being actively worked on that I'm aware of. Either you have very specific needs or no one cares about those "features". You are free to use any software that you want. :)

I never use 4K or anything remotely that high in resolution. 1080 at most.

I don't know what a "PR" is. In this case, it could be "Product Recall".

Meanwhile, I can't imagine I'm the only one to care about speeding up playback, and having analog output.

But, it's great that I am free to use any software that I want. On my devices. In my home. Very generous. Thank you...

Does anyone know other software media centers that provide these options? So far I have checked around with limited luck, as I've previously posted. Thx.

Nope. The entire video rendering and hardware decoding pipeline has changed. All previous articles are null and void.

OK... so then are the features I'm interested in...

    1) Speed control ?

    2) More speed options ?

    3) Aligned audio/video sync ?

    4) Analog output ? (no, my TV does not have another secondary audio output to tap into)

...actually going to get added to the new "video rendering and hardware decoding pipeline"?

Or I should give up hope here, and quit repeatedly asking this question in the hopes of a clear answer so i know how to proceed with setting up an actually effective media center?

    Please advise.

    Thx.

OK, so don't understand the rest of the comments after mine that don't answer anything I mentioned... those being the only things I care about at all:

    1) Speed control ?

    2) More speed options ?

    3) Aligned audio/video sync ?

    4) Analog output ? (no, my TV does not have another secondary audio output to tap into)

Are any of these going to be incorporated in the new LibreElec versions??

    Thx.

FYI - I just tried 9.2.6 and the playback speed trick does not work on it either, so I had to go back to the flaky asynchronous 9.2.3 again, which is what I had been using before trying 9.95.1

I'm really hoping for this to get updated as a real, synchronous feature, with analog output, and far ore speed selections too. Otherwise, i might as well just use VLC on a laptop... hastle.

    1) What happened to speed control where i could speed it up to 1.5x by using Alt+Right Arrow?

I believe that this was dependent upon the "Sync Playback to Display" option being enabled. (please see 2.2 here: Settings/Player/Videos - Official Kodi Wiki)

    2) And it really could use 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, speeds as well (yes I watch nearly everything that fast).

    3) Of course this drove me nuts because the video and audio would always be out of sync by a second or two when playing at higher speeds, so that needs to be fixed finally too.

    4) and now it won't output analog to my stereo system?? just the HDMI to the crappy speakers in my TV.

These are the ONLY two features I care about in my video player and now both are gone? There is no point to even having a RPi anymore if I cant' find a single video player that can do these (LibreElec = gone, OpenElec = ?, OSMC = no RPi4, Kali running VLC = too many layers and choppy).
