Hello,
the old raspberry pi is a 3b, with libreelec 9.2.8, kodi 18.9. tvheadend server + client running.
what are the steps to move channel list etc. to the new installation? (rpi 4 2 gb, libreelec 11 actual download)?
thank you,
Stefan
P.S.:
there is tvh server 4.2 and 4.3 (alpha) available.
does anyone have experience with the newer alpha version? can you dare to install it? -
one additional question to dvb-t scan files in tvheadend
the pre-defined muxes for germany didn't work (only there for dvb-t, but dvb-t2 is needed).
this helped me: PiCockpit | DVB-T Tools, but it's only available for germany.
in Croatia, they changed from dvb-t to dvb-t2 too this summer.
Does anybody know, if somebody did the same for croatia, than as picockpit.com did for germany?
should i better ask in the tvh forums?
Thank you,
Stefan

thank you very much!! it worked now - i don't know why, but in the meantime, the addons menus "filled up". I'm not 100% sure if i looked in the same place, but i had the impression that when i first looked, there was only 1 addon (somethink with docker). I had access to all addons now i think.

thank you ghtester! I don't know how to activate different plugins in a nightly build - i just installed it by putting the tar file in the "updates" smb folder.
when i browse through the kodi addon menus, the versions you mentioned don't show up. what am i missing?
ah sorry.. I just found a website containing all the plugins as zipfiles. did you mean that?
there is an error with the install - kodi gives a message that the zip doesn't have the correct structure.
i used : 9.80.8-RPi4-arm-service.tvheadend42-9.80.8.125.zip

Thank you ghtester,
the nightly installed ok, but tvh 4.2 is not compatible, and tvh 4.3. 1906 can't be installed because some dependency couldn't be resolved..
Is there a solution for this?

I use the Libreelec Pi with TV Tuner as a replacement for my defect Topfield PVR... I use an even bigger ssd there
-
Setup is ok, but the external hd/ssd adapter doesn't work. It is not recognized. and I get errors like this:
em28xx 1-1.1:1.0: write to i2c device at 0xc8 failed with unknown error (status=128)
I don't know how to show the actual firmware version. Please help!
-
Main point for me to use a ssd was durability - at the least on the "main" pi, with cloud software, databases etc. on it.
-
I don't remember the details, but I'll test the next hours.
I think the firmware was up to date - which version is that at the moment?
the same usb3-adapter and ssd run with full speed with a raspbian pi4 and kernel 5.4.
perhaps it has to do with the hauppauge usb2-device too.
one additional problem was, that the tvh server addon 4.2 doesn't work correctly in libreelec.

Hello,
I would like to set up an rpi4 with the latest kernel 5.4, because of general problems with usb3. I would like to run a hauppauge dvb-c/t stick, and a usb3 ssd. I had problems with that when i tried it with LE 9.2.4 or 9.2.5 several weeks ago, because of that, I went back to a pi3b.
Is there a beta build or a guide how this can be done?
Thank you,
Stefan

Hello to all,
I plan to setup a new device, and I wanted to ask you, which components work best with kodi.
I thought of using a raspberry pi, but a different device would be ok also. I want to use tvheadend, and use it as a videorecorder.
If it was a raspi, which dvb-c/t device gives the best results? which usb3-sata adapter is your recommendation for use with a rpi?
Or better use a different HW Base? I would prefer it, if automatic power-up and power-down for planned recordings would work...
Thank you,
Stefan

I have 9.2.4 with tvh 4.2 on an rpi3b+,
I have the same errors on startup like you.
De-activating the tvh4.2 server addon and re-activating it solves the problem for me until the next reboot
the pi runs all the time, so it's not a big problem for me.
but I hope that this will be solved - it seems to be a general problem on some combinations of pis and firmware / kernel.
Perhaps there is somebody who knows the necessary tweaks?

I moved back to the rpi3 with LE and TVH.
I have a USB DVB-C TV Tuner (Hauppauge WinTV HD Dual), and both devices (the tuner and the usb-ssd) work better with the rpi3.
(there are far fewer block artifacts and other errors with that setup).
I'm looking forward to use usb3 speed with my ssd - I transfer the video files to a pc sometimes.
