I checked with my S905X box and it wakes fine from idle/screensaver.

    Some more ideas:

    • It could be a power issue, so if possible try with another power supply. You could also try starting the box without any usb devices connected, if you did not already try that.
    • Make doubly sure that you are using the right device tree by downloading gxl_p212_2g.dtb and write it to the sd card as dtb.img
    • Try the older kernel in 8.0.1a. You can up/downgrade within a major version of Libreelec freely simply but copying the img.gz to the update folder over the network and then restarting the box

Updated to 1e, tested tvheadend client with both S905 and S905X, works fine here with SD, HD, FHD and 4K (remote tvheadend server with dual dvb-s2 and 4 sat positions on a diseq multiswitch)

Twitch and youtube addon are acting up, though. Streaming video stops after a few minutes.

I do not see this behaviour with my S905 box. Any navigation key on my remote will end the screensaver. My S905X box is currently not in use, so I cannot test it there.

Try either downgrading to 8.0.1a (it has the old kernel) or upgrading to 8.0.1c (latest version) and check if your problem persists. You can also connect a mouse or keyboard to test if that can wake kodi again.

    ForceRGB seems to work again.
Fractional rates are set again (at least according to dmesg, I am not sensitive enough to notice)
The few vc-1 files that I have work fine

Gui seems less snappy than in 1a, was already present in 1b. Saw severe lag after first boot, got better after waiting a while and rebooting.

Even then, the system shows a load >2 with 40% cpu usage, when kodi is doing nothing but scrolling a slightly longer filename in the file selection menu. Top shows no other active processes besides kodi. Will test and compare further, but might not find the time today.

I have a Tonbux q box and would like to use this but android is a bit of a mystery to me. I can't find out if it's a s905 or the 905x variant as sites have conflicting info. Does anyone have one that could advise which file and method I should use to put this on?

Would like to use dual boot if I can so I can easily revert. Reason for wanting to do it is because both kodi and spmc give me problems when trying to pass DTSMA

Method and image file is the same for all type of S905(X) boxes and described in the first post of this thread.

Use any android cpu-analysing app to find out about your cpu and ram. Then chose the correct device tree and copy/rename according to first post.

    - Activate SSH server on your box
    - Connect using SSH client (user: root, password: libreelec)

    Type

    Code
    echo 1 > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/frac_rate_policy

and see if it helps with you files. If it does, you can wait for the next release, or automate the command:

    Type the following commands:

    Code
    cd .config
    nano autostart.sh

This starts an editor. Insert the following text:

    Bash
    #!/bin/sh

    echo 1 > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/frac_rate_policy

    Then save and type

    Code
    chmod 755 autostart.sh
    reboot

Your box will restart, and from now on the command will be sent just before starting kodi.

If it does, create an autostart.sh that contains the command to automatically issue it at startup (see here:

    It is easy:

    • create a new sd card with latest libreelec and the correct device tree from Index of /s905/device_trees/
    • boot card, let libreelec do its thing and wait for restart
    • connect usb media with test files, test if playback is still problematic
    • Next, test with remote files (NAS, Windows shared folder)
    • create full debug logs for playback of a single relevant sample file, see: thread-981.html and upload logs w/ sample file

The new install makes sure that no old configuration entries or long-forgotten xml-file edits remain and interfere. Local playback helps ruling out any network issues. Logs and sample are needed to help the developers understand the issue and replicate them.

Edit: I see that kszaq was faster with his answer :)

Finally tried 1.a and 1.b today and neither work for me. In fact, none have worked for me since either 0.c or 0.d. None of my bluray rips will play. It's acting like the network isn't fast enough. But the network is fast enough x100. The movie will constantly buffer and no matter the advancedsettings I try, It seems like it's not even being used. Constantly buffering and showing the 0-100 buffering counter. These movies are only 5-9 gb and it shouldn't have any trouble playing them. A raspberry Pi can play these while it's doing updates.

I would just go back to the earlier version that worked but the audio has a loud static at the beginning of each track that I've never been able to get rid of. Totally unusable for an audiophile.

Please create a signature with the name and specifics (SoC, Memory, Network) of your boxes, so we can help you narrow the possible reasons for your problem. As you can see from my signature, I own very different boxes. I have a huge media library with extremely diverse files, and I can play almost all of them without problems. All that is left are 1080p Hi10p encodes, for which the SoC has not enough CPU power.

As you mentioned static noise, I would guess you have a S905X box. If this is right, please try updating to 8.0.1a or b by placing both the .img and the gxl device tree with the right amount of ram from Index of /s905/device_trees/ (newly downloaded to ensure that you have the latest file). Maybe you are still using the default device tree that came with your box.

Mini m8s II wifi on all 3 boxes on LE8 drop and dont reconnect untill restart and the process repeats , WIFI chip is azureWave aw-nb197sm

    any help

Please check the settings on your router, especially in regards of encryption (should be WPA2 only, no WPA or mixed mode), energy savings options (should be at 100% power) and bands/bandwidth (20 MHz offers slower speed, but less possible interference, 40 MHz is inverse. Try both).

Also check your router log if there is an error message when the boxes lose connection.

Maybe difference is in our chips. I have S905 (look to my signature).
On my box is Samsung Ocean Demo very jerky and too much pictures are skipped. Sometime is video freeze for a while and then are lot of frames lost.

I can second that both files are played very jerky by my S905. I am too lazy to unpack the S905X again, as Jaaxx has already tested the files.

The same problems i have on some other videos. Seems, this issue is with H264 videos. H265 videos seem OK... For example hi bitrate UHD H265 test video jellyfish-140-mbps-4k-uhd-hevc-10bit.mkv plays perfect and smoothly...

And as I said before. 8.0.1a version is without this issues, all videos play smoothly...

I did tests today with many more files, from old divx, to wmv3 and h.264 and h.265. I have yet to find a file in my (quite large and diverse) collection, that does not play well in 8.0.1b.

But Youtube and twitch, using the official libreelec/kodi addons gave me a ton of trouble. Youtube videos would randomly freeze after a few minutes, twitch streams would also freeze several times during me watching a single stream for about 30 minutes. Need to do further testing, but playing the same stream using an android device on the same internet connection was completly fine, so I dare to rule out any internet connectivity issue of my router.

Did further testing today and was prepared to generate logs, but the twitch addon behaved and ran very stable on 8.0.1b. Must have been something odd with twitch or the streamer yesterday.
