Thank you I went back and did everything you mentioned before again but renamed the right file this time and still no luck. However when i start retroarch now none of my controllers or remotes will navigate the menus.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this. I tried everything you suggested and still seem to have the same problem. Also reinstalled ES again while I as at. Here are logs taken just after my last attempt. Also im not sure if it makes a difference but when i renamed game.retroarch to game.retroarchhh it was in a slightly different location (/storage/.kodi/addons/game.retroarchhh)

Thank you very much, I updated libeelec to 9.0.3 and updated retro arch to the lowest version as suggested but everything still acts the same as far as games not loading from emulation station. Should i grab logs again?

this seemed to have more info than the debug log

I tried again to launch a handful of games from emulation station and fetch the logs. Thank for taking a moment to help me out.

Hello! I use emulation station and retroarch apps on my pi3b+ with roms installed on a HDD connected via usb. games have always loaded without issue but i havnt played them in weeks and now when i try emulation station shows all my roms and systems on screen but when i click on a game the screen fades to black for a few seconds then returns to the emulation station menu. The same games and cores still start when load them in retroarch tho, I tried uninstalling them both and reinstalled them but still wont load anything but the game list in emulation station. I will try to find my debug log but may take me a while im clueless.

YOU ARE THE BEST!!! That did it thank you sooooo much. That file name must have just clashed with something else, I changed the cores name like you said to psp instead of ppsspp, then changed the es system cfg path back to psp and boom it works perfectly. Thank you Both so much for all the incredibly fast and helpful replies.

Now if i restart ES add on, and run a game from any other system I get a RA log but still not a lot of activity on the ES log just for comparison.
-
Mario, make sure what changes are saved exactly? the es config file? I reposted it after changing it looks to have saved it.

Ok thank you. The other logs had n64 because i ran a couple games that worked before i tried the PSP games just for a comparison. This time I did as you said, I deleted all the ES and RA logs, ran the ES addon, attempted to load 3 or 4 different PSP games only, then went to fetch the new logs before quitting the ES addon. However RA did not make a new log at all only ES. Here it is it doesnt really look like anything is happening at all when i click on psp games in ES..

Also im using a pi3+ you know way more about it than I do but the games run very smoothly so it doesnt really seem like its running short on memory.

Thank you for the advice Mario77 but no luck yet, here are my logs again including the RA log. I played a couple games from other systems first and then try a handful of psp games, on the ES log its doesnt look like much is happening when i try a psp game in comparison to other systems. Thank you again for all the help.
