I use makemkv on my desktop (linuxmint) and it never stopped working, but i have the update function disabled.

Strangely in the about box it says version never expires..

Well you are right that while it is in beta a key is not needed, but what about this statement on their website?

MakeMKV BETA has several major restrictions.

Program is time-limited -- it will stop functioning after 60 days. You can always download the latest version from makemkv.com that will reset the expiration date.

Question about the makemkv addon

Suppose that i want to buy a key for makemkv would that be a problem with the key update code in your plugin?

I tested your LE9 version with the makemkv addon and it works perfectly!

So it is defentively a problem with LE 8, but with kodi 18 just around the corner it isn't worth to fix it i guess

Version 1.12.3 did work fine on LE 8.2.5 as far as i tested.

Oke fair enough you build it for LE9 so indeed it needs more testing.

Maybe that patch isn't nessecary anymore?

Tested makemkv on my stock LE 8.2.5

Installs fine, i removed the old version first

When i try to play a blu-ray kodi crashes instantly.

makemkv 1.14.0 is out, will you update the addon?

Well for a number of reasons, but for now you are right about building it myself is not necessary

1e i don't use your libreelec version, but a standard 8.2.5

2e i have a big stack of blu-ray discs that i won't be able to play on Linux without makemkv

3e if you would decide to abandon this version and so the makemkv add on i would like to be able to continue and update it myself.

4e i like to learn new things

So can and or will you give instructions to update the makemkv add on?

And it is absolutely not the case that i don't trust your work!

And of course these packages have dependencies too so once all are build it should start to build makemkv.

It's working now, i found the zip in the target dir!

One question left, how do i update the makemkv addon? simply by changing the PKG_VERSION="1.12.3"?

I think i found the problem... i tried to compile it on the LE machine..

It is running now on my linuxmint 18.3 system.

Is it normal that it is compiling everything? i thought it will only compile the addon?

I would like to know how i can compile the makemkv addon myself?

I tried create_addon makemkv but gives error :

./scripts/create_addon: config/functions: line 16: syntax error: unexpected "(" (expecting "fi")
