Letting Kodi encode DTS HD MA and True HD to LPCM 5.1/7.1 channel Audio with Amlogic S905/905X will always downgrade to 16 bits instead of the orginal 24 bits.
From what I understand there is a vesion now that will decode to LPCM 24 bits, and that is LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2.5-Chroma.422.10bit.
IS this the only one that will do this? Or is there more version that can do this?

What is the difference between:
LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2.5-Chroma.422.10bit.img.gz
downloaded 2018-08-20, size: 125 833 107 byte
LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2.5-Chroma.422.10bit.img.gz
downloaded 2018-09-01, size: 125 842 349 byte
Same namne, different sizes.....
been running the first version, seems to run well, but would be nice to know what the newer one adds......

post #11 here:
does it matter what brand of android box?
wrxtasy linked where I could download it, this was the 2018-08-20
I saved this version, but now see there is a new one added 2018-09-01, same name but a bit larger.
the old one is: 120 MB (125 833 107 byte)
the new on is: 120 MB (125 842 349 byte)
thats why Im asking, what is added/changed?

I downloaded it 2018-08-20, and now see there is a newer one.............
LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2.5-Chroma.422.10bit.img.gz added 2018-09-01
same name but added a bit later.
I see the "new" is a bit larger in size, what is changed?

Yepp, I know, tried that, but it doesent work with .iso files neither with bluray folders(.mpls), this is confirmed many times, but I couldnt find out the reason WHY?, it only works with MKV and M2TS video files, wich I only have few of.... Thanks anyway...

ok, thanks, good to know... As I said, I havent noticed any real problems so far with neither one.....
But the Rpi3 is so small and so cheap and easy to use compared to a PC, so if you are using a pc to only LE Kodi, that is a waist of space and heat and money... Of course if you dont use the pc to anything else, you can use it....
the great thing about PC is you can use it with dual boot, that way you use what you have. Other then that, the Rpi3 is awsome with LE.
The downside of Rpi3 is its a bit to weak in power whan using it to fast forward and jump in videos, much faster with a normal pc, Also I dont know how safe it is to play high bitrate 60hz 1080p files in Rpi3, I only use it for 1080p 24hz so far, and will probably keep to that...

I dont know how LE is using differnet hardware(Rpi, PC,Android boxes and so on), But from my experiance to get the most stable playback only for 1080p H.264 and VC-1 vidoes, I think Rpi3 is the best suited, am I right? Nothing wrong with LE and PC, but for me Rpi3 with LE seems most stable. With stable I mean a smooth playback with no jerky movement and stutter and no suddenly stop in video when playing these files from local usb stick....

have to learn how to do log files, will post it when I have leraned it, if I dont managed to find out what is the cause.
I only play internal videos directly from usb stick
tried more last night, it seems eveything is working with resume except this one mkv file, maybee its the file that is wrong in some way, will test other mkv file later..

Hi, why doesent my Rpi3 keep track where I was last in a movie? If I stop the playback at 35 minutes and turn power off after watching a movie, next time I power up my Rpi3 an want to continue watching the same movie it always starts from beggining...
Have only tried .iso files so far.... but Im sure it was same with blurayfolders(.mpls), havent tried MKV:s yet...
Is it something I need to enable in the settings

Hi, Im about to buy the
Xiaomi Mi Box 4K Android box
It should be ok to run with Libreelec Kodi, but there is only one usb port and no microsd port, If I put LE on a USB stick then there is no more free usb stick to connect portable harddrive...Is that right, you can not use this android box with external harddrive when running LE on a usb stick?

tested the : LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2.5-Chroma.422.10bit.img.gz on my S905X Android box quick now, cant see the bitrate info on my Yamaha receiver but what I saw was it played 96khz 5.1 files, so Im sure the samplerate also is 24 bit.... great...
Cpu load was around 20-40% for a 1080p 24hz to 60 hz videos.....
wrxtasy, is this version the final one regarding PCM 24Bit sound, or only a test version?
I will try it later more when I have time... seems very promising

There are now OSMC AMLogic Kernel mods now going into my LE 8.2.x releases that output 24bit multichannel LPCM audio.
So how do we find this LE realease? and is it something that will be ready soon...
I can only find kszaq LE builds from the download section...
Thanks...

THANKS !!! Very good info.....I will read about it all later this evening.... good stuff.

I think I will pass Android boxes, as I read that they are limitied to 16bits 48khz audio LPCM 5.1/7.1, So no good to me, if the source is 24 bits I want 24 bits PCM also, not 16 bits...
I have on older receiver that only takes PCM audio 5.1 via HDMi, so I cant let Kodi bitstream audio, therefore I need Kodi to output PCM 5.1.
Ok, no big deal, I will build a cheep PC instead.
