Can confirm this actually happens. I am using a 8.2.3.1 custom build on my S905x box and noticed this phenomena in one of the x265 1080p videos. It's entirely possible some other x265 videos I've played were affected as well, but I only saw it in one of about 50-60 ones.

I'm using a 8.2.3.1 LibreELEC build for S905 on my cheap s905x TV box (MXQ Pro+ 2/16GB). Everything (video/sound playback of various formats) seems to be flawless so far, but the "Render methods" options in the video settings is greyed out and set to "Auto detect". Is this a normal behavior among the custom LibreELEC builds for S9XXs boxes or not? I am asking because I've noticed the HEVC hw decoding on my box seems to smooth the tiny details out as if some denoise/sharpening filters were applied (as opposed to the sw decoding on my PC). It's rather non-invasive, but still. Is this of a common occurence or not?
Thanks for your answers.

- I want to buy :
- a stable S905X box, cheap but not flaky
- from reliable seller, perhaps geekbuying(?)
- with 802.11 ac, BT4.0, 2GB ram, 16GB emmc
- Android with few security issues,
- kszaq's build of LibreELEC
- booted from SD card,
- using internal memory for data,
- maybe SD card for data,
- maybe install an Android TV ROM ?
- this is the claim by the vendor for "MXQ Pro+" at $37.
- Any advice ? (noob...)
- P.S. : the word "f e m a l e" is censored ?

I own this particular box (bought via g33kbuying). The provided Android rom causes significant stuttering issues during video playback (video files vs. TV refresh rate conflict, could be related to the TV model per se), so I installed the generic LibreELEC build (8.2.3.1 Amlogic s905 + 2/16 tree img) by kszag and it works perfectly. I only use it for 1080p/4k HEVC 10bit playback from the USB stick, but the wi-fi, KODI add-ons and the other functions normally work according to my brief testing.
Everything is smooth, works with original TV remote controller, I highly recommend it!
Went from cheap useless Android-powered TV box to fairly capable multifunctional device!
