My H96 Pro Plus was auto updated to 8.2.2.2 and 8.2.2.3 from 8.2.2.1a but now auto frame rate wont go lower then 50 Hz. On 8.2.2.1a it would go down to 23.98 and 24 Hz. In Setting/System Display Refresh Rate I also see only 50.00 59.94 and 60.00. What is wrong and is there a fix? Powering everything down and up wirh H96 latest doesn't help. On 8.2.2.1a all refresh rates were shown from 23.98 to 60. Can I get 8.2.2.1a somewhere and install it?

Hi all
I am new to this forum.
I bought myself a Minix u9-h for Christmas. I needed an additional Kodi device to complete my old HTPC which is not powerful enough to
play 4k movies. Instead of upgrading my HTPC for about $1000 to handle 4k HEVC/H.265 in a .mkv container properly I bought this device
for the job.
I am running the device with LibreELEC 8.2.2.1a. I am using my old HTPC as mediaserver through Kodi UPnP and it plays 4K UHD movies with
HD Audio passtrought to my reciever perfect with no audio sync problems. Subtitles is also working perfect through Opensubtitles.
I want to thank kszaq for all great work with the builds to make our devices work as they were built for. I also want to recommend the Minix u9-h device for people reading this forum planning to buy a Kodi device.
I have the shield TV here and NUC. Dont expect too much from Shield. It has a ton of its own problems. It has trash upscaling quality as well in the SoC itself, even worse than Minix U9h. The good thing though is that the CPU is strong enough, so you can enable software Upscaling (Lanczos3) up to like 720p resolution. The bad thing is- right now its only possible if you disable hardware acceleration completely. Like there is no setting as of yet to use software acceleration for content below 1080p, maybe Kodi team will add it in the future.
Shield TV also doesnt have very good deinterlacing quality for 1080i content (TV content like sports etc.). It cant do Yadif x2 with 1080i. Well the option is there, but the CPU is too weak for that task. It stutters when you enable Yadif x2 with 1080i content.
It has a bunch of other issues like not beeing able to convert HDR-> SDR. Not supporting some HD passthrough audio like TrueHD/DTS HD/Atmos... Ie had many issues with it.
Theres just one guy kinda "optimizing" Kodi for that Android TV plattform, which is Koying I think is his nick. Needless to say he cant cover all Android TV devices and optimize them properly. Especially since every SoC manufacturer uses their own proprietary sheet and most of the time doesnt provide the required drivers and so on.
Shield TV also doesnt support auto framerate switching for Apps like Netfilx, Amazon etc. The only ARM device that does it atm is Apple 4K TV I think.
One thing that is good about Minix U9H I will say is- it did passthrough every HD audio properly as far as I can tell. The upscaling quality is slightly better than Shield TV, but its still nowhere near Lanczos3 quality. Its not as fluid and fast as Shield when navigating both in Kodi and Android OS compared to Shield.
Optimally, when Kodi team adds HDR support for NUC devices, the best device combo would be Apple 4K TV + Intel Kaby Lake NUC (or newer). Apple 4K for native 4K Netflix, Amazon + Youtube support with auto framerate switching and auto HDR-> SDR conversion and NUC for everything else (Kodi with addons etc.).
You can compare the Nvidia Shield to Dune Solo Lite or Dune Solo 4K too. These Dune series work pretty well with anything I threw at it.

It was never absent.
Well auto framerate down to 23.976 worked great on 8.2.1.2 not in 8.2.2.1 but again its working in 8.2.2.1a. Probably due to the unclean build. It is just a bit slow because it is running from USB.

I will be pushing 8.2.2.1a shortly to fix smoothness in 8.2.2.1.
The bug was caused by a non-clean build over my post-8.2.1.2 experiments. In other words: one of the system component did not compile correctly.
Did this cause the absence of 24 Hz too?

Not related to update. Boot your box when your TV and AVR are on, perhaps EDID was not available when box booted.
Changelog will be posted soon, I'm busy with Christmas preparations.
Back on 8.2.1.2 All refreshrates from 23.98 to 60 Hz are back.

Still not working. When I check Settings/System Refresh Rate I only see 3 values listed: 50.00 59.94 and 60.00
In 8.2.1.2 I also saw 30 25 and 24.

When I booted my Libreelec box this morning it was updated to 8.2.2.1. Unfortunately auto framerate is working only partiately. It only switches between 50 and 60 Hz but won't do 23.976 or 24 Hz. This worked beautifully on 8.2.1.2 where my bluray rips would play at 24Hz and my DVD rips played at 50 or 60Hz. Is there a setting in 8.2.2.1 that I am overseeing?

Adding a new Samba share doesn't work anymore after upgrading to 8.2.1.2. When I browse for a new share all I get is an empty list, no servers are shown. The shares that I added to the library in 8.2.1.1 still work.
Problem solved! Just added servers by ip-address and could browse to the shares after that. Great piece of software and a nice upgrade from Android. It follows the framerates and see 24/25,30,50and 60 Hz on my receiver and TV with smooth playback. Hope it remains stable and working like it does now.

... and after that, shutdown the box, pull ac plug out, then in and after booting dts, dts-hd, Dolby true-hd, should be working. A reboot doesn't work for me, only a complete shutdown and rebooting... but after that I had all formats in sound.
Yes, that helped a lot. Even after only a reboot. I pulled the powerplug anyway.
But now the automatic framerate doesn't work anymore. All sources either 24, 25 and 50 are all output @60Hz over HDMI. Both receiver and TV show a 60 Hz input signal. What needs to be checked if everything is properly set up? Is there a way to see a debug screen show info about file played, like framerate and resolution?

Thanks guys! I try it as soon I get home. Hope it works on the H96 Pro Plus. Its so much better already than the Android Kodi.

Hello!Could someone tell me which is the most stable librelec version for my H96 pro plus and which .dtb should i use? I'm tired of my box because if using regulary it gives me pop up messages all the time like: kodi has stopped, google play has stopped, gmail has stopped...Jesus,everything is stopping...Its killing me....Thanks!
I got it running on my H96 Pro Plus. Works pretty well. Just DTS and DTS HD Master give PCM sound output to my receiver with audio settings on passtrough. Dolby gives Dolby output. Is there a way to get proper DTS? I might be overseeing something. Andoid Kodi gives DTS and Dolby output
