You can play but S905 cannot handle HDR. Any box with S905X a better option.
Also these boxes are capable to play not just these remuxes but the original UHD BD movies too.

I got a RP3 with LibreElec and everything works like a charm.
But..Now I got a Mini M8S III Amlogic S905X TV Box - 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM from gear best.
It has the S905X chip but every device-tree i try it won't let me use wifi.
Am i doing something wrong or does wifi not work for these devices?

Hello. I have seen messages about successfull boot on Tops MX V. Just got this box and can't boot from a USB stick. Tried to use toothstick and update methods - no luck. Box just doesnt boot at all with usb/sd plugged in. Using gxbb_p201_2G device tree. What am I doin wrong?

If it boots with 1G dtb (and doesn't with 2G dtb) then it has only 1GB RAM.
MX IV, MX V and some others has fake ram chips and hacked android which reports more memory.

Yoe wrote AX88178 in your post but AX88179 in the signature. The 78 is USB2 the 79 is USB3.
All boxes support CEC in some level. There are bugs but most of them usable more or less.

I install 8.1.9 & 8.1.10-rc1 on 8G USB drive, use gxm_q200_3g.dtb and replace remote.conf.
Its works perfect and does not freeze at all but work a little slow.
I try to install the same configuration on 16G SD card and the Storage partition is Read Only.
Nothing works, nothing save after reboot, the device freeze all the time.
What to do?

I have tried with Android remote.conf (did not work at all) and one for H96 from Pelican (which works in Kodi, but cannot power on the box),
but, as I've suspected - will have to build it from scratch, apparently...
You cannot solve the power on problem with remote.conf.
You have to change the android (and the botloader with it) to a version which contains your remote's code.
Is this device tree correc for this box? Or i should use the gxbb_p200_2G_1Gbit_RealtekWiFi.dtb ?
Try the realtekwifi.dtb.
One question, the Mini M8S II regarding the quality of construction is support is at the Beelink Mini MXIII II level ? I find it on ebay shipped by italy and I do not pay customs.
It is the same quality but M8S II has better remote (silent rubber buttons instead of hard and clicky).
what dbt are you using for libreelec on your h96 pro+ and what base android image?
I'm using kszaq's gxm_q200_3g.dtb but my box is H96 Pro (without +)
im not saying i cant shut it down via remote
im saying i cant power the device back up via remote if libreelec shut it down
it powers back up fine via remote if i shut it down via android
My box can turn on and off with LE (and android of course) from remote.
It is worth buying the box S912 or S905x. Stability is important...thnx

Gigabit Ethernet needs USB3 period
Between 100 mbps and 1000 mbps there is a big gap. So a gigabit ethernet with USB 2 offers more than enough bandwith for video playing.
Pelican you should try a usb drive instead of sd card if you still encounter the read only errors

I've installed latest LE to a Sandisk Ultrafit USB drive and it works without the readonly problem.
But USB 2.0 don't support 1000mb only 100mb
It is obvious.
And? Do you have any movie with 1000 mbps?
I don't really understand that fuss about network bandwith.
The biggest UHD BD (Lalaland) has about 80 mbps.
Normal 4k content has much lower bandwith.
If you want to play all the extreme test videos then connect a gigabit adapter for the S905X box.
