But your box supports USB 3.0?
No. It is not necessary. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.

I have two usb 3.0-gigabit adapter, one with ASIX 88179 and the other with RTL8153 chip.
Both work fine with any box under LE and android.
Yes, same here. I've checked all the other DTS HR files and none of them plays. Strange. Last time I checked everything was OK.
Haven't figured out it yet completely, but now I can play this movie on all the LE versions if I play a 192kHz DTS HD MA track just right before it.
And then all the other DTS HD HRA stuff plays fine as well.
Maybe it is something about the 192kHz hack built in for S905X.
It seems the DTS HD MA and the DTS HD HRA behaves differently if the frequency is 192kHz.
2re:
Could you confirm if you can play HRA stuff after playing a 192 kHz MA track?
On my box it plays fine.
If you ever get the sd card slot working again try transferring files to storage or install addons.
When I cannot write storage I cannot install any addons too. But I guess it is normal.
I have 8.0.2e (kszaq Version) installed right now, what is the „easiest“ way to update to 8.1.8?
Copy the .tar file and the dtb into the .update folder and reboot.
Please don't waste your time. If the issue is there from the beginning, it should be fixed in kernel. I will see if Amlogic tried to fix it (e.g. PD#141411: emmc: modify calibration dly_step for gxm · khadas/linux@523a22d · GitHub).
I've put back 8.1.1 and the .update folder is writeable now.
Edit:
Then I copy 8.1.8 .tar to the .update folder, reboot and now .update folder is still writeable.
At this point in order to avoid problems, you should take a s905 cpu box, or rather an s905x or 905d, personally which box advises me ? I am very interested in knowing your opinion, if you will answer me in courtesy.
There is a sticky topic (means read before ask) please go there: Choosing a AML S905 / S905X / S905W / S905D box guide
Pelican The issue started with 8.1.7 or is it present in earlier builds as well?
I'm not sure if I can name any version change.
It was present from the beginning on this box, but sometime some settings remain after reboot and sometimes I can write to the .update folder. Yesterday I tried to find out wich version is good and which version is not but cannot get a consistent result.
It is very time consuming, because mostly I cannot use the normal update method but I have to remove the card and prepare it again.
Today I continue the testing and I'll come back if I found any solid repeatable behaviour.
YES, I read the first post:
libhybris is a software to install ? How does it work ? The hack did not understand what exactly meant.
No, you didn't read carefully enough.
Read again the very first sentence, for example.
Perhaps mount -o rw /storage would help. But that's a guess since I haven't seen any logs and did not experience this issue my self. If you can journalctl -a | paste from the read-only system...
8.1.8 from sd card:
LibreELEC:~ # mount -o rw /storage
mount: can't find /storage in /etc/fstab
/etc/fstab is empty (exists but 0 byte long)
@brooklyn:
mount -o remount,rw /flash does nothing
I want to install libreelec to internal after running it for a while from microsd card. Just curious if there is any difference in speed.
But if I install to internal, am i still be able to boot from microsd card if I insert a microsd card with a different version of libreelec? Or do I need to revert back to android first and than install libreelec on micro sd card the normal way (power+reset button).
I haven't noticed any speed different.
Yes, you can boot another (or the same) version of LE from SD card.
If you look at the changelog you'll se that there are no changes in 8.1.7 that could introduce read-only data partition. I upgraded my S912 box lots of times and never had it. I guess this might be partition corruption. Even if user data partition is read only, you should be able to connect over SSH and execute dmesg | paste to get logs.
I can ssh to my box and execute commands.
What can I do to make user data partition writable?
Well I would stick with 8.1.6 but would like the screen tearing fix which was included in 8.1.7.
Wonder if possible to make custom 8.1.6 with only the screen tearing fix included.
Are you sure that 8.1.7 introduced this bug for you? Have you tried to go back to 8.1.6 already?
I have this since the beginning with all versions.
Same problem here. Earlier today i noticed that all my DTS-HR didn't play, thought it was a bug in the latest AVR firmware that was released a couple of day's ago. But now I'm not so sure.
