I could try, but I have to admit that I'm not looking forward breaking and restoring from backup the lounge system on a Saturday evening! That would no do much good to my WAF...

I'm in the dual HDMI TV+old AVR situation and bumped into the exact same problem. The other single HDMI RPi4 had no issue.
I reverted to an older build.
I'm watching this thread so that I can provide an additional data point if needed.

So the SoC has no hardware deinterlacing filter? Bummer!
Getting out of the hardware chain is probably crap...
Is handing over interlaced content to be deinterlaced downstream just as crappy to achieve?

I'm not trying to put any pressure or show a lack of understanding about the current priorities, so please don't shout at me too loudly! I'm just asking to update my expectations...
(it is, after all, only my 4yo daughter who's watching interlaced material, and she hasn't complained to me yet! I do cringe every time I look at the screen, but all gets better once I switch my attention elsewhere...)
Is there any progress on the RPi4/V4L2 deinterlacing front, has it moved up in any significant way in the to-do list, or are there still so many other more basic/important things to sort out first?

I am using an RPi 4 in a dual headed scenario, I can't upgrade my HDMI 1.4 Denon AVR-2310 (2009) at the moment:
I am switching from a 2007 Toshiba FHD TV to a new Sony XH90 4K HDR.
I am experiencing an EDID issue. I had mentioned it a few days ago, but this time I have debug logs and data points, as well as a work around:
Case 1 - Single headed - Toshiba 1080p TV - Video and audio through AVR - Working
Case 2 - Dual headed - Toshiba 1080p TV - Video to TV, sound through AVR - Working
Case 3 - Dual headed - Sony 4K HDR TV - Video to TV, sound through AVR - Video OK, no sound on AVR
Case 4 - Dual headed - Sony 4K HDR TV - EDID trick - Video to TV, sound through AVR - Working
The AVR EDIDs of Case 2 and 3 are quite different.
It's to be noted that the AVR also has its output connected to the TV. I'm guessing that it is creating an EDID mixing the TV's capabilities. In case 3, that must be confusing LE10 no ends. But is it really LE10's fault? I'll leave that to your judgement.
My workaround is to use getedid and acquire a working AVR EDID, then manually force it upon LE10. I'm afraid that I may gather mismatched delay data on the way and have weird lip sync... But heh, still better than no sound!

It works to create and delete for single headed and dual headed cases. Fantastic!
Yup, it worked for me, rebooting fine with everything in place even with the AVR and TV in stand-by!
All files in their right places, with the expected content.

Due to logistical issues, I come with no logs at all, so this is more a question on principles. I'm bracing for "no logs, no problem!"
Running L10 nightly (20210424) on RPi4 4 GB.
HDMI0 connected to TV
HDMI1 connected to Denon AVR-2310 receiver (a 1.4 model that won't deal with 4K HDR or ARC, let alone eARC)
The goal of dual heading is the classic avoidance of a receiver upgrade...
Case with 4K HDR TV - Sony XH90
TV and receiver turned on and set to proper inputs before powering the RPi to avoid EDID issues.
Drool-worthy 4K HDR video. Wooooo!
All the audio settings, Normal and passthrough, show the availability of the Sony TV and Denon receiver. I chose the Denon receiver.
I get no sound. No GUI sound, no passthrough.
I've reset my receiver's processor and completely, no positive result.
Case with old 1080p TV - Some Toshiba from 2007
Only the TV is different from the above.
The receiver produces all the sound, GUI and passthrough.
Riiiiiiight.... I know, no logs... I promise to generate them properly, full pastekodi and all, full EDID info, etc. if/when I can logistically put the 4K TV back in play. I fully that this is the only way to make real progress.
But!
Is there any known issue that I should be aware of?
When/if I can get the 4K TV back, is there anything in particular that I should be careful with? Any trick? Any specific data that I could collect outside of a pastekodi or 2 with debug logs and EDID?

BTW, I forgot to say that the video plays when I turn "Allow hardware acceleration with DRM PRIME" off.
Changing the "PRIME Render Method" has no effect.
