is there ANY way to write this or any other build to a NAND, without using multitool? my MXQ-4K doesnt boot it, yet it boots LibreElec without issue.

After some research, I read that the device actually activates when you connect a device via 3.5mm jack. Can you please try? In the meantime, I'm trying to understand if some drivers are missing.
can confirm this, as it happened to me using a ugreen usb to 3.5 dac. if nothing is connected, device is invisible.

no.. there is a build of lakka for rk3228 that works (search on google). make a batocera build is possible, but I prefer libreelec also for retrogaming so my focus remain on libreelec for now.
could you guide us how to game on libreelec? i always used librelec to media playback, and lakka/batocera for retrogaming.

Hi ochentay4 this is not the right place to talk about lakka but know that I intend to continue that project too
even if I prefer libreelec for retrograming as it's more simple than lakka (more click and play than the thousand settings of lakka) and the performances are identical (some addons on libreelec 11 are broken but most of them works)I'm trying a test build that I will publish in a new post, you need to have a little patience but as I have written in the past, the project is not dead
agreed that this is not the place, sorry.
im patatient, no worries.
thanks for your work!

ilmich Hi! I found out that you released some time ago Lakka for this box using similar tools like you did for LibreELEC. Could you release an updated version for RK322x? Lakka v4 or v5? As you did here? http://ilmich6502.it/lakka-4.x/
Latest release LibreELEC-RK322X.arm-11.0-nightly-20240218-d7324fb-rk322x.img worked really fine on my box, maybe if its tranplanted with Lakka it will probably run great too!
Also, any news regarding an updated LibreELEC for this boxes?
EDIT: Just tested Lakka and it even runs PS1 games just fine! Its incredible, just had to use 720p res and correct dtb. Well, I hope you release a new Lakka! Wifi and BT do not work, but Im sure if you release an updated lakka with LibreELEC11 stuff, it will work as everything work with LibreELEC 11!

keesijp60 Your box seems to have a type of internal memory called emcp (basically RAM and storage are in a single chip). I don't know if you can send the output of a uart serial, but I'll try to make some changes,
Regarding your project, time, and several versions of libreleec ago, a user connected an rk322x box to an amplifier through the spdif digital output.ThreadTanix TX2 RK3229 MPD DAC Hi Res Audio Bitperfect
I would like to explain my project for connect my Android box Tanix TX2 based on chip RK3229 with an amplifier DAC Sabaj A4 trough an optic cable.
The goal is use the Tanix TX2 like a server MPD for playing music in lossless Hi Res Audio.
the technical specifications of the audio part of the RK3229 chip are:- I2S0/I2S1 with 8ch: supports up to 8 channels (8xTX or 8xRX). Audio resolution from 16bits to 32bits. Sample rate up to 192KHz
- I2S2/PCM with 2ch: Up to 2 channels (2xTX and 2xRX). Audio
lukeluke1979March 31, 2022 at 1:59 PM Maybe you can take a look to understand the potential of your box (the instructions also apply to my builds).
ochentay4 Finally, some time ago I found a box identical to yours. So being able to do some tests I also managed to get the wifi working (but only on libreelec 11)
as regards the installation in nand (as in your case), from libreelec 11 it's no longer supported (as indicated in the first post that no one reads). unfortunately, the source code is not available and with the new kernels, the nand binary no longer works.
Maybe one day this may change. But considering that in my case a couple of nands chip start to corrupt!!! So I always recommend installing it on the SD card because it's more manageable (backups, replacements, etc. etc.)ilmich hi! i read it, i wanted to install libreelec 10 on it. dont worry. wifi works fantastic on libreelec 11. im surprised how good both builds work, it really did change a lot in a year! I have contacted (again) jock on armbian forum to make multitool work on this box so maybe I can get armbian on nand and libreelec 11 on sd. i couldnt be more grateful to you for your work.

I just tested both LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-10.0-nightly-20230925-65bd849-rk322x.img and LibreELEC-RK322X.arm-11.0-nightly-20240218-d7324fb-rk322x.img and they both seem to work fine except that 10.0 doesnt support wifi chip.
I wanted to try (again) to install to internal using multitool but it doesnt boot multitool at all (screen is blank, cant remember if I have to do something else) yet your images boot fine. Am I missing something? I thought that multitool boot was "fixed" on my device.

Hey guys, I have an OTT MXQ 4K (not Pro) device with these specs (real and verified by me with my camera):
- RK3229 CBBKM43012 1552 CPU
- SanDisk P553072141 SDTNRGAMA-008G CP0813618 NAND
- NANYA NT5CC256M16DP-DI RAM (DDR3)
- Pulse H1102NL 1549-M ETH
- Espressif ESP8089 05215 P27X03 WiFi
- Board name T066-V1
- Firmware MXQ-4K_ota_20160308
-Do I have to get *any* file from Android to get remote working?
-Is a new release on the horizon? Latest is from April 2020 and I saw many commits on github, including Kodi 18.8.
-What could be the correct image to test? Thanks!
Fantastic project by the way!!!
EDIT1: Ok, I tested "LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-9.2-devel-20200427221002-b7186bc-rk3229-v88mars.img.gz" It worked, booted fine, had ethernet but no WIFI, 1080p was somewhat good. Now which one to test? This box is DDR3 and the firmware I tried DDR2.
EDIT2: I tried to play a movie 1080p remux bluray (30gb) from smb network (wired at 100mbps) and I encountered stutters and constant buffering. Main PC is a monster and work fine on Rpi3. Any ideas?
EDIT3: Tested "LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-9.2-devel-20200427220805-b7186bc-rk3229-v884k.img.gz" now no stuttering or buffering at 1080p, speed is fast! Even tried a 4K HEVC Remux file (60GB!!) and it worked somewhat fine, incredible!! But when I fast forwarded the video box resetted itself. Also still no WIFI. Im starting to think that Espressif ESP8089 is not supported at all on any release. Is there something I can do to help to get it working?
EDIT4: Temp is 208ºF (98ºC) when playing videos, is that reading correct? Holy crap!I just tested both LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-10.0-nightly-20230925-65bd849-rk322x.img and LibreELEC-RK322X.arm-11.0-nightly-20240218-d7324fb-rk322x.img and they both seem to work fine except that 10.0 doesnt support wifi chip.

Hi ochentay4,
I've continued my fork of rkflashtool
https://github.com/ilmich/rkflashtool/
which is now able to update the bootloader. It's a highly experimental tool (I'm a volunteer) but it should help you flash libreelec to internal memory. It can also be compiled for windows, but at the moment I don't have a machine to do it.
ok, im not a linux user but will try to test it, if you tell me how to use it

Hi ochentay4,
If you are referring to 11, unfortunately if you have a NAND device still not. I'm working (slowly) on it.
Anyway I just got a board similar to this one

I was referring to 10, its great that you have the same board now!

Cheers
Michele
Wanted to report that my box boots fine with "LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-10.0-nightly-20230306-088ac81-rk322x.img.gz". Thanks ilmich! Now this box stopped being useless!

Hi ochentay4,
but what did you install in nand!? Android or legacy libreelec!?
Anyway for the multitool keep asking for help in the armbian forum and follow any indications from jock2 and fabiobassa . They are my mentors, but it's not always easy for someone on the other side of the forum to help if someone just says "it doesn't work".
However I'm working on a script that automates the installation to internal memory, but it will take me a while.
I have tried several Android roms on nand and frankly they all suck, used FactoryTool and Batch Tool just fine to install them to nand.
I hope you get a script working, and on my side I will try to learn how to flash IMGs with rkdeveloptool using a live Ubuntu (im not good with linux but I can learn).
Multitool does not work at all in this box so I posted on Armbian forum so someone could tell me how to diagnose, as I dont know what to do next. "fabiobassa" suggested a USB TTL converter and give him a serial log and will try to get one or do one, but it will take time. I even scanned my network to see if some random Android device showed and it didnt. I suspect that the issue you fixed for LibreELEC could be similar for multitool. What do you think? Sadly, multitool doesnt boot at all, with any methods that i tried.
-
Hi ochentay4
yes, installing on nand is supported.
The best tool is the multitool from armbian.
Another method is with usb cable and rkdevelop tool.
yeah, problem is multitool doesnt work/boot/display anything so I cant use it (reported it here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12656-cs…#comment-160946) and rkdeveloptool is for linux only am i right? tried to flash the img with RockChip_FactoryTool_v1.64 and RockChip_Batch_Tool_v1.8 and img isnt recognized. Any tips?

Hi, thanks a lot
the last test,
https://ilmich.libreelec.tv/test/LibreELEC…a-rk322x.img.gz
unfortunately not having the board I don't know how to help you if it doesn't work.
However, I see that the sd controller is not working.
This may depend on
- the controller is not active (strange)
- you are using a bad or incompatible sd card (with the mainline kernel).
The rk3229 can also support uhs sd cards but in practice, it depends on the box
In my build, the speed of the sd bus doesn't go to the maximum to have better compatibility.
oh yeah now it works. want to remind you that I tried several SD cards, an old 2GB, and 2 differents 32GB all did the same. But this build works! Testing it now!
Currently running rk3229-box-v88mars-ovclk dtb. Is there any way to install LibreELEC to internal NAND?

Hi ochentay4, thanks for the help,
try with this test build
https://ilmich.libreelec.tv/test/LibreELEC…a-rk322x.img.gz
in this build I've disabled some sdio gpio reset that can (if I remeber correctly) conflict with sd card reader.
Legacy dts seems similar to mine regarding sdcard controller.
For dmesg try typing
and make a picture (there is no alternative)
Here it is

Ok, so just tried "LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-9.2-devel-20220124165156-3ce5dd4-rk3229-v884k" and it works fine (no wifi though). Did a dmesg and attached it.
Sadly, I dont know how to do it with 10.0 images and also multitool wont work no matter what.
