Configuring the YouTube add-on in Kodi is painful

Hi, my mom asked me if i could help her to have a better TV experience. E.g. she uses the youtube plugin from the TV (LG OLED) which always pops up annoying ads that are loud. Also when watching over DVB-S2 the TV pops up ads, this is so ridiculous. So i thought i'll go and buy something like an rpi 5, put libreelec on it. She sometimes watches youtube. I thought it would be nice if the TV becomes really a stupid TV (without internet connection anymore) and everything goes over the rpi5 with a dvb-s2 card. Anyone familiar with that and recommendations?
Have you been able to get that summary line on a rpi4 with libreelec?
I will see if i somehow can get that machine, but not sure if thats possible.
disable all the addons one-by-one
Not sure about that. Why one-by-one? Do i have to wait after disabling one? If i have to wait until it runs out of memory after each one... thats impossible. I have to make an appointment each time i want to connect to that machine, then my dad needs to find time (he wont be available in complete september). So i guess it ends here.
probably you forgot to enable persistent logfiles
True, i forgot that.
HiassofT https://paste.libreelec.tv/delicate-cicada.log
oh, forgot to stop kodi, ill do that
here we go: https://paste.libreelec.tv/mature-husky.log
i will contact my dad and try to get a remote session to provide the output. that might take a couple of days.
I updated the image but when i grepped for SUMMARY, nothing appeared.
So i checked with systemctl status kodi, when its normal running. Thats the output:

The last line is a bit irritating. Is there something else missing? When i disable kodi, it looks like this:

The thing is... i see my dad maybe 4 times a year. Thats where this machine is. So i can not flash a new image to his sd card and do a lot of stuff. I will see what is possible. I have to do all remote.
Can i flash such an image with a command and all settings keep the same?
CodeRPi5:~ # uptime 17:00:37 up 12 days, 20:36, load average: 2.62, 2.65, 2.67 RPi5:~ # free -m total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 8052 2177 4711 201 1461 5875 Swap: 0 0 0This is LE13 (master) not LE12 but it's the same Kodi version in the image (not Piers, yet). Remind me in another couple of days and let's see if memory has substantially increased.
Is this default kodi without anything "special"? If yes, i assume he must go with the 4gb version.
He was able to let it happen again, yay. I just gathered the links:
https://paste.libreelec.tv/ethical-tadpole.log
https://paste.libreelec.tv/bursting-monitor.log
chewitt any idea? i am just a bit afraid, if this happens to no one else, that it might be some hardware failure. he still has a few weeks warranty.
he is now facing another problem, the rpi freezes so he was not able to reproduce the initial error.
https://paste.libreelec.tv/busy-possum.log
https://paste.libreelec.tv/romantic-hen.log
I am wondering if this is some sort of hardware problem. Temperature looks fine (40°C).
Any way to check if its the ram?
The 4gb version would not fix the problem, but it would be an ok workaround, because i assume if 1gb is enough for 1h watching, 4gb should be enough for 4h watching ![]()
he usually watches for 2-3h
i will provide those files/urls asap.
edit: i just called him, i will gather those files with a remote session on friday
hi, i have a rpi4 for my father. he connects using a vpn connection to my router and so he can use my tv stream. i configured everything and all looks good, but after about 1h he has to reconnect everytime. so i checked some logs and noticed, that there is probably some sort of memory leak. i ordered the 1gb version, thought thats enough, now i regret that. i assume with 2 or more gb of memory that would not occur, but its just a guess.

the dmesg is attached.
anyone an idea what we could do (software side). i already thought about asking in a repair cafe if anyone could replace the memory with a 4gb chip. but not sure if they have the equipment for smd/bga
Same problem on LE nightly and LE 12 with Marantz Cinema 50 and LG G3 from 2023.
Switching sources did not help. Unfortunately, as i must have CEC working correctly (which is very broken somehow in LE12), i had to switch back to my odroid n2 with coreelec.
i switched back to the amlogic device with coreelec.
I probably forgot to mention: when i use the odroid n2 instead of the rpi5, all works fine (power on/power off of everything), so the other devices work as expected. Not sure what coreelec uses or if there are even any alternatives to libCEC (probably not?).
I will try this 10 minutes tea thing and make a little pray ![]()
cec client mode is set to "Wiedergabegerät" (replay device?), i assume/hope thats correct.
IIRC it hasn't worked for my configuration to shutdown KODI via TV off in LE12.
I am now at LE12 and it also does not work on my side. But not sure if i have everything configured correctly. Can you tell me whats this client cec mode is? output of cec-client, if it helps in any way. And you are correct about your guess, my TV is the "root", then the AVR, then all other devices e.g. rpi5, nintendo switch, pc etc. on the avr hdmi ports

Guess i can not help you in any way e.g. providing any data or so? Unfortunately, CEC is a killer feature for me ![]()
