Hi Ram. Looks like you have a different partition table than standard Amlogic. Can you please boot from SD and paste result of dmesg | paste? Please do a fresh boot (i.e.disconnect from power) before you collect this log.

Have you updated your device tree? This has been mentioned before, you need to use a device tree that I provide to avoid audio issues.

Spekkie There is support for using Balbes' autoscript but you don't have to use it. My script also uses dtb.img from SD card first and then reads dtb from internal memory if there is no tree image on SD card.

There is one reason to use a new device tree: audio. Device trees from vendors most of the time don't have support for HD Audio and there is no bc_timer entry that is needed for stutter-free playback after latest kernel updates.

Here's a new development build. I'm posting it here since it has mostly S905X-only fixes: changed booting procedure, fixed 4K H.264 playback (not tested, please report!) and one change to device tree that should fix audio - I missed one from @afl1's post.

I have Odroid-C2, WeTek Hub and first generation MiniMX. And I don't recommend buying MiniMX because of its weak WiFi.

S905X is not properly supported by .007. You need to search this thread for a working build, I will also post a build today with further fixes in booting procedure and a patch to make H.264 4K work.

This is not a solution as it breaks 4K H.264 for S905. Don't worry, I already made a patch that makes 4K H.264 working for both. This is the patch, not tested though: KhhG

For VP9 support you need two things: basics to add am-vp9 support: gKdb and this probably won't work just like that. You also need some header parsing/feeding for Amlogic (I'm not sure how it works) - you need to look it up in package/multimedia/libplayer/src/amplayer/player/player_hwdec.c from buildroot: arm-buildroot-2016-08-18-5aaca1b35f.tar.gz and add it to Kodi.

There is no such thing as good supported cheap Chinese device. If you want support from vendor, the devices are more expensive: WeTek, Odroid, Minix...

If you don't care about Android, look at RAM and internal memory size, ethernet and WiFi speed - as some devices come with 802.11ac. Pick any box with the features you want.

And if you don't care about HDR output or VP9 decoding, pick S905 over S905X.

The only devices that have and will have official support are WeTek Hub, Play2 and Odroid-C2.

Support for generic (aka cheap Chinese) S905 devices is planned to be merged to master LibreELEC branch but will remain a community-supported project.

Reason: there can be no official support for devices that does not have vendor support.

High 4:2:2 Profile - as an extension of Hi10p profile - is not supported by Amlogic HW decoder (nor any known cosumer HW decoder AFAIK), it has to be software-decoded. S905 may be not powerful enough to do software decoding of 1080p 4:2:2 video.

Fallback to software decoding for High 4:2:2 profile is already covered in my development builds: projects/S*05: add more unsupported H264 encodings to HW decoding bla… · kszaq/LibreELEC.tv@448424a · GitHub

To sum up, you are not able to play 1080p High 4:2:2 videos with S905.

A driver that Alex uses is not compatible with the latest kernel.

For now status is: no support for built-in tuners.

ippon Amlogic driver works in an odd way where it throws an error when you echo anything to aud_mode. Try running that command and see if 44.1k audio works after executing it or not.

I may have got one from a good batch since eMMC is quite fast in mine. What I don't like about that box is very weak WiFi antenna.

Docker is not available.
