Realtek ALC299/ALC1220 Support, Intel Audio Updates In Linux 4.11 - Phoronix
The "wait for network online" was already enabled (10 seconds).
Edit: I just now went to LE Configuration > System > Update and clicked on Automatic Updates (set to auto), which brought up the AUTO / MANUAL drop-down menu. I then hit the right button and clicked "cancel" and a pop-up appeared immediately with the update info. A quick reboot finished the update. This method also updated my 2nd Intel NUC.
Strange but it worked ![]()
My YouTube app works perfectly, so there is no internet issue that I'm aware of. Not sure what you mean by DNS. I used OE for 2 years before migrating to OE about 6 months ago and never had an issue with auto-updates.
By manual update, do you mean downloading the latest version and placing it in the update folder ?
Version 8.2.0 has the LE Auto-Update enabled by default but it's been 3 days and neither of my 2 Intel NUC's running LE 8.2.0 has updated to 8.2.1
Am I missing something or is 8.2.1 only for Android ?
Display MoreBlueribb, thanks for the link. I found that thread when I tried to figure this out before. I'm not clear regarding everything a Windows 7 user needs to do, since this thread talks about Windows 10. I understand how to add a network user and password if that is mandatory, but did not want to spend the time then.
I do have some questions though.
- Do you have to enter the password everytime you connect from the Libreelec PC to the Windows PC share?
- Can you map your Libreelec PC as a network drive in Windows Explorer file manager on your Windows PC?
I like to use my Powerdesk file manager to map to the Libreelec NUC via SMB and transfer files, etc.. that way. I know how to edit the SMB.conf file to allow the Libreelec directories to be seen over smb
Thanks for any info.
You only have to enter the password once
Yes, you can map the LE PC as a network drive
Read through the thread linked below and ask questions if you don't understand:
8.0.2 to 8.2.0 update problem(s)
By the way - I feel the same way about the release notes. They are a jumbled mess. The developers don't seem to understand that not everyone here is an expert in that stuff. We really need a basic, easy-to-understand step-by-step SMB guide for novices. A YouTube video would really be helpful too.
Is there a reason you leave your NUC on 24 hrs ? This little guy can generate some heat and would surely last longer if you shut it off when not being used. I programmed my Harmony 650 to turn on the TV, Receiver and finally the NUC (with a 3-second delay). All HDMI handshake issues are now gone (no more black screen).
By the way, I found another thread with the same issue that you have here: Turning TV back on results in blank black screen
I have had almost the exact same problem for the last few months. Intel i5 NUC to Yamaha Receiver to Sony LCD (hdmi cables). When I fire up the system using a Logitech Harmony 650 remote, the entire system comes on but the screen is black. I have to switch the receivers input back and forth once or twice to finally see the Kodi screen. I can also get it to work by turning just the TV and Cable Box on, then switching to Kodi using the Logitech remote. This has been quite annoying. I was thinking my NUC or Yamaha was the cause until I saw your post.
I have a second identical NUC downstairs that I should bring up to test.
Edit: I don't actually power down the NUC's - I put them in suspend (pwr led blinks).
Did you read the release notes ? There are other threads on this subject too.
Here's one: 8.0.2 to 8.2.0 update problem(s)
I read them, I just have no clue what the hell it all means. I just know that what used to work doesn't anymore, which is most unfortunate for those of us that don't know how to fix it. In the end, I guess some of us will have to move to other platforms if need be. Unfortunately.
I felt exactly the same as you. You have to ask for help, be patient, ask again if you don't understand and eventually you will overcome the problem. In the case of SMB shares, it was Microsoft that killed the anonymous and browse features when accessing shares. This was necessary for security though. If your hardware doesn't support the new SMB versions, you will have to bite the bullet and replace it or stay with older versions of Libreelec. As far as moving to another platform - good luck with that. They most likely will have the same issues.
I had to connect a keyboard to disable Lirc since it was nearly impossible with a remote
I guess you have not installed inputstream.adaptative addon (LibreELEC repository)
That was it. My Windows version must have included it with Kodi (I guess).
Thanks
I am running version 5.4.5 of the YouTube Addon and it works perfectly but only up to 720p. I entered the settings and enabled MPEG-DASH, then clicked on "configure inputstream.adaptive". It tells me that it is not enabled and asks me if I want to enable it. I choose YES and then nothing happens. There is no window to configure inputstream.adaptive.
I was able to do this on my Windows 10 Desktop but not on either of my Intel NUC's running LE 8.2.0
What am I missing ?
Libreelec 8.2.0
Kodi 17.5
Intel i5 NUC
YouTube version 5.4.5 (latest)
Edit: I wonder if I should have posted this in the Addon thread instead
You described the samba wizard in post #27.
That is the part about typing the path then entering the user and password in sources.
What is confusing is they still include the "browse" option that does not work anymore. I guess they could modify that to "type the network address here, they follow the directions".
I had to read this thread and your post #27 to understand it, but it is easy.
Yes plus Windows shares need credentials added if needed. In my case, I added a second windows user with credentials since my main user did not have a login and password assigned and then I added that user to the windows "share with" settings. Then every path in Kodi needed to be re-written to include the credentials. It seems there are many ways of doing this task and I think a built-in wizard would really help.
Kodi or LE should add an SMB Share wizard to assist in setting up Windows SMB shares.
