Quick tip if any...how do you connect to Samba from a PC?
after you have enabled samba on libreelec
using windows, go to start-run then type \\x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the ip address of your device

Hello,
I have a Tronsmart S905 box loaded with 8.01k, back then using Winscp without a problem. Today I am trying to update it to the latest version and I am failing to connect via SSH, or FTP. It just refuses all connections.
Any idea how to solve that?
Or maybe is there another way to seed the update file into the .update/ directory?
enable samba, then transfer the file.

fresh build for testing7 fails, should I use other version first then upgrade? thanks.

Have you read the first post? HDR is not supported (yet). You should try @johngalt's builds: [TESTING][S905(X)] 10bit/HDR/Dithering Test Builds & Discussion
I understood that HDR is not supported, I just assumed that it will be displayed as SDR on non-HDR TVs. Thanks.

using latest 8.0.2c with s905x, is it normal for 4k 10bit hdr videos to appear washed out on non-hdr tvs? kodi can't do hdr to sdr? no issues on playing the file other than it looks washed out. thanks.

Is it safe to use 'k' build despite lack of subtitles security patch? My library is located on a desktop computer so all subs downloaded by LE are downloaded there.
the subtitle issue only affects windows

I am very happy to update this old thread: with the latest "full nougat" kernel developments by kszaq and johngalt, the gap between S905x and S905 performance has been reduced even further.
My S905x box can now flawlessly software decode several cpu-intensive 720p hi10p files from my collection that I had earmarked when I did the comparison earlier this year.
what is the build that you installed?
-
i also tested actually on LE7-j build and it's the same issue. so it looks like S905x can't really handle x264 4k/60fps videos. no issues on the 30fps. unfortunately i dont have a s905 box to test.

How can I clone the nand to a bootable USB stick? Is there an easy ssh command?
I have 3 identical boxes and need to copy my install to each one.
Thanks
my suggestion, after installing to nand on first box, do all your needed changes then do a backup via libreelec settings. then restore that backup on the 2 boxes.

would a RTL8812BU (asus usb ac-53 nano wifi) chipset supported by Librelec?
-
can a s905x handle x264 4k/60fps video? i've tried all the big buck bunny 2D files. it can play them properly except for the 2 videos below. so i think it must be a hw limitation
bbb_sunflower_2160p_60fps_normal.mp4
bbb_sunflower_native_60fps_normal.mp4

i always see this error on the krypton logs, but the video plays fine.

new forum style, doesn't look so good on ios 8 safari. works fine with ios 9 safari.

I cannot believe how this is such a big topic again...
The output always used to be darker with MM Kernel right after start, but perfectly fine after the first video was played.
kszaq always had that listed as a known issue too:the output is darker even after the first video is played. it's not a big issue, i'm just relaying what I noticed.
-
just loaded 8.0.1l-mm coming from 8.0.1l, TV Output is darker. Just not sure if I've just gotten use to previous version.
any videos to test for color accuracy?

hopefully new boxes will have s905D

is the subtitle patch already included in latest build?
