Is my board beyond saving?

Hi guys, yesterday I had been watching Gotham for about 4 hours, when i heard a "bang" sound no spark, no flash, no fire and no burnt smell, i paused trying to search for the sound origin but couldnt find anything, i unpaused the box, it work for a few seconds, then the box rebooted and got stuck on a boot loop, I unplugged it, and when i plugged it back, it didn't turn on, and the red led light pulsed off and on.

I checked the power adapter today, hoping the problem was there, but it outputs 5.4V (which im asumming is in the normal range?). After that i opened the box and found this (see picture), any of you have any idea if it can be repaired? or should i start looking for a new box?

Almost anything *can* be repaired. That is not one of them.

Buy a new box.

Any recommendation? shall i go for a s905 or a s905x? and what is the difference between the 2?

I don't have an s905, but I'm happy with my s905x. However, I am considering picking up an s905 just for the gigabit ethernet because I don't have a 4K tv or any other fancy video requirements that would require s905x.
