I've got a pi3 that I know I have watched 1080i content before and it looked really good. I've head that the Pi3 has really good deinterlacing support. I've installed my MPG2 key.
A default installation of 8.0.0 enabled MMAL by default but my 1080i channels stuttered. Not terribly but very noticeable.
I tried disabling MMAL and enabling OMX player and the audio/video got out of sync pretty quickly. I assumed since MMAL is the default it is preferred. The deinterlace setting was Auto by default. When I set it to off the playback is very smooth but seemed like I could see lines in sports so I guess it wasn't deinterlacing at all.
Any advice on the proper deinterlacing settings to get nice 1080i playback?
