Can't boot after installation

  • Hello,

I am wanting to make the move from Kodibuntu to LibreELEC. I have placed the image onto a USB drive and ran the install onto my SSD however when I boot, I get stuck with the following error on the splash screen:

    *** Error in mount_storage: mount_common: could not mount LABEL=Storage ***
    ### starting debugging shell... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty. job control turned off.

Setup is simply a Intel machine with one SSD and a HD for storage.

    Any help is much appreciated!

Narrowed it down it being my secondary HD causing it. When unplugging the HD (used for storage), it boots fine. Any ideas how to get it to boot with both drives attached?

  • It seems the issue is that both my SSD and HDD have the same label of "Storage" and I guess it can't decide which one to mount so it chooses the latter.

Any way to force change the /proc/cmdline or know how to change the label of the partition?

  • Change the disk label and then change extlinux.conf to use disk=LABEL=newlabel .. beware there are two instances depending on whether the box EFI boots or not, the second is under the EFI folder.
