System Menu Disappeared LibreELEC Configuration

  • Hi everybody!

I have an MXQ S805 box which i have successfully installed LibreELEC v7.0.3.3a on. It all works as it should with no issues. However, doing some random poking around, I seem to have lost the main system menu in the LibreELEC configuration program addon. All the other menus - Network, Connections etc. - work fine. I'm just getting a blank window where the system menu should be.

I think this was my fault as I was poking around the update channel when this happened. Is there a way to get this menu back without having to reinstall the whole thing over again? I have access via samba or SSH should it just be a config file or is it in a database somewhere?

TIA for anything anyone can suggest.

Apologies for replying to my own post but I seem to have found the answer myself!

For anyone else who gets this issue i went into /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.libreelec.settings/oe_settings.xml via SSH and removed the update channel information from the <channel> tag. A quick reboot and the system menu reappeared. Not sure if this is a bug or because the update channel for this particular version doesn't exist (Way over my head!).

  • Just don't select an update channel from the dropdown list or the menu will disappear again! Since it seems that updates are not available for these particular builds, an ideal situation would be if the update channel could be removed from the code so that it's not there to be clicked in first place!

I've now ditched my MXQ box and installed LibreELEC on a Raspberry Pi 3. This is brilliant and also simple to set up. I'd definitely recommend the "pi" for anyone serious about LibreELEC.
