[RPi3] HiFiBerry DAC not stored as default audio device

  • I've been using Libreelec9.x on a Raspi3. I installed a Hifiberry for audio output. Everything worked great.

Now I've updated to Libreelec12.2 (complete reinstallation and also reconfiguration of the system). In config.txt, I entered dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac, as it was before.

After selecting it in the GUI, everything worked as it should. But after a shutdown or restart, the audio output is set to DEFAULT and I have to manually select the Hifiberry again in the GUI.

What could be the reason for this and how can I make my desired audio output the DEFAULT?

I have set up Aeon NOX - Silvo as my skin.

Thank you very much for your help.

  • Hello,

I haven't been home for the last 10 days.

I've now switched to Estuarty. The same behavior occurs: after rebooting or restarting, the default audio output is active again instead of the preset output and has to be changed manually. Libreelec seems to have a bug.

Do you mean an installation from scratch? That's the officially suggested way to "update" from LE 9.x to LE 10+.

Background: If you're using an outdated settings file internally, then something like your audio issue can happen.

  • Yes. I completely reinstalled Libreelec on a new SD card. Then I set up the add-ons and AeonNox Silvo skin. I reconfigured the interface and filled the libraries. Just like it was the first time.

  • Try without any HiFiBerry entries at config.txt. There is a chance that it's detected automatically in newer LE versions, and explicit activation leads to a setup mismatch.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your help.

Yes, the entry in config.txt is no longer necessary. The Hifiberry is still recognised, but it is not started; instead, the default output is used. So it's the same as before.

In which file are the audio output devices stored, and can they be edited to define the Hifiberry as the default?

  • Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
  • Apologies for the delayed response. I was away from home for a few days.

I have now created the log file and uploaded it.

    URL: https:/paste.libreelec.tv/trusty-deer.log

Perhaps you can make use of it.

    Greetings from Germany,

  • Uninstall the bluetooth audio device changer addon, it's switching around audio devices.

BTW: I also recommend using a proper power supply, your RPi is running on fumes and reports undervoltage errors

    Code
Sep 23 11:04:14.520737 Kodi kernel: hwmon hwmon0: Undervoltage detected!

    so long,
