LE - No signal unless reboot (many times)

  • Ok, so probably not the typical firmware bug, but I risk a post here because I have been struggling with this for at least two years, with 2 different hardwares and many LE versions, I cannot seem to find a solution.

I use my systems as follow:

    1. Always leave the LE unit on,

    2. When I want to listen, I power both the AMP and the TV.

    3. When i'm done, i power off both the TV and the AMP, leaving LE always on.

    4. All systems are plugged in 'series' LE -> AMP -> TV

    On setup #1, this works 100% of the time, Is a LE 12.0.2 installed on a minisforum N100 + Yamaha RXV4A + LG C2.

On setup #2, this work 0% of the time, same LE 12.0.2 installed on same minisforum N100 + Yamaha RXA4 + LG G1

-> I only get successful after rebooting the LE unit a couple of times, with both the TV and the AMP powered, I eventually get a 'video signal' . Otherwise it is the AMP splash screen that i get.

-> Once i get the signal, everything remain stable for hours, no problem. If i power down either the TV or the amplifier, the sequence has to be redone again.

-> I set AMP as 'passthrough' - for no processing, it did not help.
always shows 'no signal' when it doesn't work (it cannot detect LE it seems)
will show 4:4:4 (8 bits) when LE is detected

-> I tried to tell LE "blank the other screens" in case the video was defaulting to 'the other port' (minisforums come with 2 HDMI ports)
    No help

-> I had the same problem with different hardware (minisforum NAB5 with a i5 gen 12)

So the constant seems to be my Yamaha AMP not able to 'see' LE video, only if the unit is booting but not when displaying the UI
So i don't know at this point if LE 'emits' video or not, it seems not from what the amplifier tells.
One funny thing, is that the setup that works 100% of the time, there is no 'AMP splash screen' - it is a cheaper model, and works better. The RXA4 is a higher end model and frankly seems to work like crap.

All firmwares in all units are up to date.

Is there a hidden option to tell LE to leave video on all the time ? (though i would'nt see why it would put it off)
It seems to me it shuts it OFF and never detect again when the rest of the system gets powered on, for whatever reasons.

    Thaaaaaank youuuuu ! :P

I am attaching boot logs for system#1(100% ok) and system#2 (100% fail) if any help

  • HDMI uses active negotiation/handshaking on both ends when things are connected/unplugged or turned on/off. Kodi will respond to video capability changes, but audio capabilities are only detected once at startup. You cannot tell LE/Kodi to leave video on (as that's not how things work) but you can capture the EDID data that describes the connected HDMI properties and configure/force the Linux DRM layer to always see the AVR as being present, which achieves the same thing. Run "getedid create" from the console and then reboot, then run some tests. See https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/edid
