[RPi3B+] 3D Playback on 3D Televisions

  • ADMIN NOTE:

The following thread describes a 3D playback tweak for newer hardware revisions of the RPi3B+.

Older hardware revisions of the RPi3B+ work without that tweak on LE 9.2.8.

Newer LE versions (LE 10+) don't support 3D anymore.

I bought a Raspberry Pi 3 b+ because it was recommended to play Frame Packed 3d movies.

But now I have the problem that I can't get an HDMI output with the necessary LibreElec versions 9.2.x.

Explicitly tested were 9.2.8 and 9.2.6. With the latest version for Pi 3 there was a HDMI output so I exclude a general hardware error.

I would use the latest version, but I bought the pi 3 specifically because of the 3d function.
Has anyone ever had this problem or knows how to solve it?

Or, is there possibly a problem with newer Pi 3's?

The same thing happens with Osmc the 3d builds don't work while the newer ones do.

  • Not sure without digging but if so, the simple fix would be to copy bootcode.bin/start.elf/fixup.dat from a working new image to the 9.2.8 image and see if that helps.

Another possibility is general bug fixes and improvements have improved compatibility with that specific TV.

  • What popcornmix has sugestetd has totally worked for me.

I have bootet the newer Version(12.0.2)from the rasperry pi imager and clicked through the Setup, after that i shutdown the pi and moved the files bootcode.bin/start.elf/fixup.dat on the Desktop. Then i installed the 9.2.8 Version and overwrote the files with those from the Dektop.

    Thanks for the fast help.
