Hi recently started using LibreELEC for kodi when I noticed that when playing videos there is an initial hdmi signal lost before the video plays. Is this intentional?
select video>play>hdmi signal lost>audio is heard>then reconnects and displays video.
the hdmi loss is 1 seconds long.

If the connected TV supports a range of refresh rates, Kodi will switch from the default desktop (1080p@60) to a resolution/refresh matching the media being played to get the best output, e.g. most movies are [email protected]. So a change is normal and generally desirable. However, if you do this on older GPU hardware or with older TVs the switch can be slower and more noticeable. There's a delay option in Kodi settings that allows you to pause output for e.g. 2 seconds to allow the switch to take place. You can also disable that behaviour completely and force all output to the desktop resolution, but then Kodi needs to rework media to match 1080@60, e.g. to make the 520@25fps video content from a PAL broadcast fit into the 1080@60fps output stream. It will do that by resizing and duplicating some frames. Kodi handles this well, but ultimately there are differences and your eyeballs might detect something.
This is not specifically about that topic but might fill in some background: https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/4k-hdr
