Pi4B 12.0.1 No Headphone Audio

    kit:

    Pi4B, 4GB Memory, 512GB SD ; DVI, not HDMI, Monitor ; Bluetooth disabled ; Gb wired Ethernet; audio+composite cable, using the audio only

    My wired speakers are about 30 cm from the Pi. Nice ones that I have had for at least 10 years, and have no need (or interest) to replace. I also do not see any sane point to adding a USB sound device that would provide a connection that I already have in the Pi.

    The audio used to work in a 9.2 version of LibreELEC.

    Settings/Audio does not offer headphone audio, but does offer the disabled Bluetooth:(. raspi-config is not installed in 12.0.1 (SSH enabled).

    How do I get headphone audio back?

    For those looking for useful instructions - allow me to demonstrate how to actually answer a question.



    The enabling of the audio output on the 3.5mm audio jack can be done by doing the following:



    Open an ssh session into the pi, signing in as root and the root password set when setting up the pi (I use putty in windows to do this)

    enter:

    mount -o remount,rw /flash

    This sets it so you can edit the config file.

    to edit the config file, use the command:

    nano /flash/config.txt

    edit the file by adding in…
