Installing LibreELEC 11 on Rockpi 4B Plus

  • Hey all,

Just got my hands on some used Rockpi 4B Pluses and I want to install LibreELEC on them. I downloaded the official image, extracted it and burned it to a microSD. Then put it in the Rockpi and powered it on. Nothing. No HDMI output, no resizing partition, etc. Is there something special about how to set these up?

    Thanks!

  • OK, so it seems that there was something wrong with how this particular one was sitting in its heatsink. I adjusted it and now it boots into LibreELEC just fine.

    Now to figure out:

    1. How to move LibreELEC to the soldered on EMMC

    2. How to get it to successfully connect to the network (complains about invalid key but I know its the right key, its my network and the key works on another LibreELEC install on another device.)

    3. How to get HDMI control passthough working (works on the same HDMI cable to the same TV on another LibreELEC device.)

Any hints on this would be appreciated.

  • For Libreelec don't use Rockpi4/dev/usb-install - Radxa Wiki. for flashing the emmc. The used rock 4b+ I got seems to have some issues and making a working sd card was hit and miss. Mainly miss. The process is great for erasing everything but not installing Libreelec. Use AndroidTool_Release_v2.71.zip. as you would with the instructions in the WIKI for the latest rkdevtool. The rkdevtool will give you all kinds of errors like "switch failure" and the LBA will be disabled. you won't have these problems with the androidtool.
