X3 Pro KODI box, cant flash. help please.

  • Hello folks.
I have been given a generic KODI box.
It is preloaded with all sorts of crap and I want, simply, to revert it back to stock kodi (as I have done with my own different but generic one).
    Now, I think its A: an AMLOGIC and B:Either 802 or 805.
So after some reading, I downloaded the libraelec SD/USB software and downloaded:LibreELEC-WeTek_Core.arm-7.0.2.img.gz
Selected the 2gb memory card (I assume the software formats the drive to the required structure) and hit write. That concludes successfully.
So, next step is flashing the box.
    Now, if im right:
1: Insert SD card (MMC in sd adapter)
2: depress the switch hidden in the SPDIF socket
    3: Apply power:
4:Wait for light (blue inside unit) and release switch.

I immediately get "SMART TV" on the screen, then it boots into what looks like android recovery mode.
The extreme left is missing off the screen but it looks like it says:
    "recovery system v4.4.2"
    "clone_data_if_exist->can't find databk partition
    "formatting /data..."
    "formatting /cache..."
    "formatting /mnt/internal sd...
    "booting"

So it appears to not be booting off the SD card.

Anyone care to try and shed light?
The device then boots into a "MBOX" logo and after several minutes I am presented with a blue screen with "system info, HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet.SD card, USB Host, Video, AV Sound tiles with check marks in them.
If I quit I am then presented with a welcome screen so its not flashed..

I had no issue with my other ebay box, flashed straight away.
    Any help welcomed...
    Cornz.

  • Are you sure it's Amlogic?

I found this in a log posted online:

  • The "X3 Pro" Android TV boxes I found at online stores are all based on rockchip RK3128 SoC.

Edit: There are apparently newer ones with RK3229 SoC.

  • Right, its a "hoxana" brand.
No updated/stripped FW so now I know its OK, I have deleted kodi and reinstalled the base version. All working well..
    Thanks for the heads up...
