Rpi4 Libreelec 10.0.1 no sound through Pi's audio jack or Bluetooth

  • Raspberry Pi 4 arm: LibreELEC 10.0.1 KODI

My HDMI monitor doe not have speakers connected.

I have a portable speaker plugged into the Raspberry Pi's stereo jack; but no sound.

I also tried connecting a Blue Tooth Headset that does show up as connected in Libreelec, but no sound.

Kodi plays everything over the local LAN when connecting with a web browser.

My Smart TV connects and plays content OK.

I just can't get any sound from the Pi audio port, nor from blue tooth headphones.

I had these two things working once but it all eludes me now.

    I'm lost and need Help!

Also, if there is a setting needed in a config file I don't know how to get to a Terminal window for editing config files

    Thank you.

  • To enable the audio jack on RPi 4B in LibreELEC 10.x you need to:

    - edit the /flash/config.txt file ( see https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/config_txt ), use Putty terminal to connect LibreELEC SSH console ( https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-use-putty-ssh ).

    - add this line to config.txt: dtparam=audio=on

    - reboot LibreELEC

    - in Kodi GUI set the Audio output device in Settings - System - Audio menu to ALSA:bcm2835 Headphones, bcm2835 Headphones

You should see the connected BlueTooth Headset there as well so it should work if you set it as Audio output device.

  • Thank you!

Adding that line did make available and the external speaker does connect...

the Plus (+) and Minus (-) sign controls the volume.

    All is working.

    Very Happy!

    Thank you
