Which video card for HEVC - H265 with HDMI (old Desktop PC)

  • Hi everyone (sorry for my english, I use a translator), this is my first message and I want to say goodbye and thank everyone immediately.

I would like to install LibreELEC on my old PC which does not have HDMI. So I should buy a video card ...
My question is this: which old video card can I add to my old PC (also cheap)? The new video card must have: HDMI output and I would like to be able to see HEVC / H256 ... is it possible?

I know my PC has these components installed:

    - Matherboard ASUS P5G41T-M LX

    - Intel Pentium E2180 processor

    - 2x2GB DDR3 RAM (TOT 4GB)

    Thanks

  • Hello,

that PC is really old and slow so you get problems with upgrading.

Do you need a pc? For the same money (compared to a GPU) you would also be able to buy a Raspberry Pi 4 that supports it.

  • For the price of a discrete PC graphics card, you can also buy for example a Raspberry Pi 4 2GB set.

And have a quiter and cheaper (less power-hungry) HTPC experience.

You could look at the GT1030 Nvidia card, but Nvidia support will stop with LibreELEC v10.

Alternatively you could run Ubuntu Linux 20.04 (and up), but support for 10bit video in Linux for Nvidia in Kodi is still not availabe.

Windows 10 could be a solution, but seeing your old hardware I don't think that will be a wise decision.
