Support for extra display elements on drivers Futaba ( tosd-5711bb).

  • After installing Libreelec (9.2.0) on my old Fic Spectra I have managed to make the infrared control (MCE) work perfectly. The VFD (tosd-5711bb) works, but I don't get the extra icons / bars to work, according to the author, the drivers (futaba) have support. I have the LCDproc and XBMC LCDproc addons installed and activated "Support for extra display elements".

Please, someone could shed light, any indication on where to get information would be welcome. I've been searching for several days and I can't find anything.

  • It's very unlikely to find someone with the same hardware here, who solved your issue. The driver of your case display works for most of the output, so I bet it's a driver problem (not fully compatible to your display).

If you have programming skills, you could try to find the source code of the LCDproc add-on, and adapt it for your needs. Because your hardware is quite exotic, I think that's your only option.

  • There are other displays with extra icons / bars, for example SoundGraph iMON LCD and Targa / Futaba mdm166a VFD. If someone explains to me how they have managed to make this feature work or where I can get information, it would be helpful

  • Manufacturers often change hardware revisions of some electronic parts. So the explanation you're asking for could be a different hardware revision of your display, compared to the one of add-on developer. Maybe you're lucky, and the necessary changes of the source code are pretty small.

  • Thank you very much for your interest. I have checked, comparing the files of my installation and the work of Black-Eagle at GitHub - the-black-eagle/lcdproc: Client/server suite for controlling a wide variety of LCD devices and https://github.com/the-black-eagle/script.xbmc .lcdproc that this, in its day added support for the extra icons of the VFD Futaba TOSD-5711BB. However, such support is not included in Libreelec. I have contacted him, through the Kodi forum. If someone is interested in the subject, this is the url Futaba TOSD-5711BB LED display driver

It is an old hardware and, apparently, little used today.
