I was messing around these day trying to install KODI on Rpi1 and doing some stuff with gpio at the same time, and while I was trying out different things it came to my attention that a fresh install of raspbian buster with kodi seemed noticeably faster then a fresh install on LibreELEC.
Now I am not sure if you can really compare, since LibreELEC had samba enabled and perhaps there is some other stuff missing that would make raspbian slower, but I though it was interesting.
Latest raspbian with KODI currently faster then LibreELEC?

Raspbian is a full-blown OS, while LibreELEC has only those things that are "on a need-to-have" basis. But perhaps that Buster has received a number of updates that are making certain things smoother. Or perhaps you are using a quicker SD card for Buster?

It was the same SD card. I will use Raspbian on my pi now for a while and I guess I will see how stable it is in the long term.
