Edimax Wi-Fi dongle setup raspberry pi 3b

    Hello

    I need to buy a WiFi dongle for my raspberry pi 3b and I am looking for one without antena.


    edimax seems to be a popular choice for Pi but I wonder how is the setup.

    From what I read is not only plug and play: you have to run several commands via ssh


    is that correct ? Can somebody help me with the commands / instructions ? What is the best non antena model that I can get?

    I've used an Edimax wifi dongle before and it was plug and play - no setup required. (Check the type of chip used)

    However, unless you have VERY good wifi reception at your RPi3, you may find it struggles. You can extend the dongle with a USB extension cable to improve the reception, or buy a dongle with an antenna which will improve the reception.
